I am a wedding officiant in Wake County. My couples always say they had a good experience in getting their marriage license. In fact, several couples have come from surrounding counties because of the little to no wait at the Wake County Register of Deeds office.

The clerk in the ROD (vital records) was unhelpful to the point of belligerent.  Refused to give help regarding marriage application.

Just like any other government agency, they don't answer phones, do the least amount to help as required and of course lose vital information.
