Wazobia African Market is one of the best, if not the best African Markets/Store I've shopped at in Houston. I will be rating them on 3 particular areas. 1 Cleanliness 2 Price 3 Availability of stocks 4 Professionalism 1. Cleanliness: For the size of this store, I appreciate the fact that it is kept very clean, someone is always cleaning up something. It is a place we get food from, cleanliness should be a priority. 2. Price: Apart from a few items like the healthy fufu alternatives, the prices of items are quite affordable, they're not cheap, but affordable. 3. Stock Availability: Items are quite available most of the times I've been there. For example I buy puffpuff for my family and even at 8pm I could even see some left. I would say my favorite plantain chips Mr John's- comes in a clear and yellow pack is not as available as one would like. The type that's usually available isn't as soft as Mr John's, its quite dry it comes in clear and green pack. Nevertheless, when Mr John's in stock, a get like 7, just in case. Most other items are usually readily available. 4. Professionalism: I know for certain, the owner must have drilled Professionalism into the workers because they are always on point. I've been to some other African/Nigerian stores and it feels like they're doing you a favor when its you giving them business. At Wazobia, the customer service is stellar. All in all, I would give them a 5 star, check them out, trust me after one visit, you'd make them your regular African store.
First time and really enjoyed it! Bought almost everything puff puff, eggroll, beef on a stick, meat pie and chicken pieand dine in next door! Love different culture dish!
Wazobia African Market, Westhimer, Houston-Texas, the name says it all. It is an African market, where I believe you can find all types of African foods. Well, I can speak for myself, that yes I can find most of my Nigerian foods. The likes of yam, plantain, goat meat, cow legs, all types of fish, dry fish, stock fish, iru, palm oil, shaki, ponmo, abodi, fuku, crayfish,Ghana pepper , beans. You can find things like indomie noodles chicken and onion flavour,Milo, peak milk, Dano milk, maltina, Malta guiness. Basically, think of anything Nigerian food, they have it. They also have a Kitchen....Wazobia Kitchen, where they sell cooked food; jollof rice, beans, soups egusi, edikiankong, afang, okro, ogbono, yam porridge, fried plantain. They also have snacks like meatpie, donut, fish roll, egg roll and many others. Wazobia African Market in Houston is a place you can shop for all your raw African foods, likewise cooked foods.
Thanks to your poor service I found Aso Rock. Never stepping here again! Of course I will share my experience. I went in to your Westheimer restaurant to order food and the lady that served was apportioning very small quantity which I complained at least twice wasn’t expecting an extraordinary portion but to at least meet the norm or standard that we are used to. I was ordering quite a few things but by the time I had to complain to her the third time that was just it for me! Why do I have to ask your staff to serve appropriately, three times! Well, I’m glad I took my money to your competitor. This won’t be the first time I will be experiencing a poor service with your restaurant. If it’s not fish that was not scaled properly, it would be yam that was not cooked properly! I was about to make an order for catering, I’m happy the service today reminded me of why I shouldn’t. Thank you!
Proud of this western African kitchen/Market but Catering Service need a little improvement in terms of picking up. Some friendly face and customer service training will go a long way for the workers as well. Food is good but customer service needs work. Men give better service than the woman both from kitchen and Market. Overall not bad for a west African restaurant. It’s the only Nigerian kitchen I’ve gone back to after some hiccups/delays, I’d pretty much given up on all west African businesses. This restaurant gives me hope. Congratulations to the business owner.
It is time we move from mediocrity to the forefront. There is no reason why the shelving, floors, walls, butcher shop, show glass all look old and just good enough in terms of cleanliness. Let us stand up and stand out. Let us be proud to send other nationalities to our stores. I speak the above solely to the Nigerians that read this. To others, I say step in and experience our culture in many ways. If you've lived in Nigeria as an expat, this place is sure to be nostalgic.
Regular customer here! Terrible customer service from your morning crew. Especially the lady with the septum nose ring. After waiting an hour earlier than opening time requesting what’s available for breakfast. Her response, “yam” when we inquired yam and what? She did not respond another staff was kind enough to respond with beans. At that point, her attitude was already off putting. I get it’s just past 7am but trust me as someone who works night shifts, this is not what you expect to see first thing in the morning! Do better! You just started your shift why on earth are you starting off rude.
It is Not every time you will see an African - owned business doing business diligently. Apart from fulfilling their corporate social responsibility with their numerous community outreach programs, their stores are clean and well thought out. This is one of the business I hope continue to do well and flourish. It is so delightful to be able to recommend them to my non - African friends and colleagues because I know I won't have any regrets. It is a general joke that Caribbean and African restaurants are not know for their customer service but with Wazobia it is not the case. Omo I'm impressed. Hopefully they open a Northwest location to service Cypress, Katy and the all of us moving to houses in those areas.
Aw man where do I start l. Awesome customer service, always finding Your products. They always have what you want. Man it's amazing.. I really like going here is my second happy place.
The restaurant has been renovated and now has a cozy theme. It so pretty in the night time and a perfect date night spot. So check it out. The store is also being renovated. They are making it bigger so they can be more variety to choose from. Defenity a place you should stop by.
