It seems that mysteriously and conveniently, Google has taken down my previous review stating my experiences with this gym. No matter, I will continue to repost my experiences with this place so that hopefully no one else will have to endure what I and many others in the Northern Nevada BJJ community have experienced with this woman. I will start with stating that I have nothing against George Fuji. Unfortunately, his fiancee, Shelbie, has an extensive history of being a vile woman. Ironically, I share many similar negative experiences with many of their former members who are now happily training elsewhere in a non-toxic environment. If you don’t believe this review then maybe have a chat with local practitioners in the area that used to train here and they can shed more light on what you’re getting yourself into. One shared experience many people including myself have encountered is the fact that you will be reprimanded for daring to visit other gyms. This cult like attitude is quite foreign to me and many others in the community. From my own personal experience, I had dared to visit my old gym in LA and post a picture on social media. That was enough to elicit a negative response from Shelbie basically labelling me a traitor. Ironically, they will allow outsiders such as the likes of Sam Rice of Rice Bros BJJ to train and share his knowledge. However, it doesnt go both ways there at RCJ Gardnerville. They will also vehemently push their patches and other Machado affiliated products on you. If you decide to wear anything not including the Machado name, it will elicit a negative response from Shelbie followed by ultimatum and possible ostracism. Essentially, If you don’t comply, you are a traitor that doesnt want to represent your team. I will also add that this gym actually charges $50 for STRIPES on the belt. After visiting many world renown gyms in Northern Nevada and Southern California and sharing this bit of information, many were shocked and in disbelief that gyms actually do this. A truly “McDojo” policy. Lastly, the coup de grâce. In the beginning of 2017 I decided to move back to my hometown, Los Angeles, to assist my dad in his law practice. I cancelled my contract with RCJ Gardnerville and went on with my life until my time in LA was up and I came back to Gardnerville near the end of 2017. Upon word of my return I was met with a extremely unprofessional barrage of harassing facebook messages from Shelbie calling me a liar and attempting to taunt me over a past tournament loss. All of this was over a facebook comment I made that she had one of her cultist acolytes report to her with. According to her I was trying to trash their name with my comment, regardless of the fact that I mentioned no specific names or locations. I have all the screenshots to prove this and in the event that this post is removed I will post the screenshots in yet another review. I urge anybody reading this review to strongly consider other training options in the area. Not only will you get treated with more respect but you will also become a much better grappler. Since going elsewhere to train my grappling skills have skyrocketed as I am surrounded by REAL mat savages and positive role models. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AND SHELBIE. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
