This is a wonderful place to train for both adults and children. The Sensei and black belt coaches are all very patient yet challenging to the children. They also lead very well for the adult classes.

For over 10 years West Michigan Martial Arts & Holistic Health, a unique blend of Japanese martial arts and Chinese medical qigong, has been an integral component of my physical, emotional, mental and spiritual growth. During that time I have been supported, encourage and at times challenged, by Sensei Konopka, other instructors and fellow students, to strive to be better, to develop beyond my current limitation, and to affect positive changes in my life for self and society all within an inviting community atmosphere. The training I have received and continue to receive is definitely worth the 75 minute drive each way.

I have been training in the martial arts for the better part of 10 years now. The previous 5 years have all been with Sesei Konopka at the West Michigan Martial Arts & Holistic Health dojo. My time and experiences here have been nothing short of life changing for me.
I have learned not only ways to physically protect myself and my loved ones but have learned to live a fuller, more compassionate, and patient life. I can honestly say, that without the teachings that I have from here, I would not be as happy with my life as I am today.
The students and coaches are all great people from varying backgrounds and walks of life. It is a joy to see all the different ages that we have here working together. The youth classes are kept energetic and fun while still teaching them complex movements that most adults have a hard time doing. You can also see as time passes how the discipline and focus that is instilled on them really begins to take shape and form them as they make their way up to being young adults themselves.
As for the adult classes I have gained skills that I never could have dreamed of previously. I have gained some of the best friends that I could ever ask for, that will remain a part of me forever. I have gained a martial arts family where originally I was only looking to learn how to fight.
Speaking of family, this is a super family friendly environment. Sensei's wife (Tracy) and kids can often be found at the dojo during classes. Tracy always has a smile waiting for you and is one of the most genuine and caring people you will ever meet.
Bottom line, I love this place and will continue to train here for as long as I am able to.

I have trained for over 25 years in several different martial arts; I can wholeheartedly say that my training at West Michigan Martial Arts has been the most rewarding and enjoyable. Sensei Konopka is a font of knowledge, being both patient and approachable. Both he and his wife have always made sure that the environment at the dojo is both fun and safe for the entire family. I have made many good friends training here, I have learned so much, and I cannot convey enough how wonderful my time training here has been.

I have been training at West Michigan Martial Arts and Holistic Health for over six years now. I can say that this is the premier place to train in Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu in southwest Michigan. Sensei Konopka and the coaching staff are very knowledgeable in the arts the Bujinkan have to offer. If you are looking for the best place to train for traditional Japanese martial arts. This is the place. 10/10! Love this place.
