Wood County Rifle Range

FREE SHOOTING RANGE, sadly almost nobody cleans up after themselves :( please don't wreck it for everyone! There's very few free ranges anymore and I would hate to see it become a pay only place because someone has to clean up after everyone. Otherwise it has a nice array of target stands at varying distances, everything from pistols to riffles can be sighted in here. You will have to bring your own PAPER target's to set up and tape to sucure them, also you will need to bring ammo as there's no attendents or shops nearby. Last but not least if you're going in the warmer months bring bug spray as this is a wooded range close to a small body of water. Please be courteous and clean up after yourself, this is one of a very few FREE GUN RANGES LEFT.

Total dump! No one appears to be following the rules here. Garbage and debris all over the place. Shell casings litter the ground despite the fact that the range rules explicitly state that you need to pick up your brass! No one appears to be doing that. Went to set up to sight in my firearm only to be engulfed by deer flies and large biting ants at my shooting station. It was a challenge trying to aim steady between getting bit by them and timing my shooting. The shooting station was in good shape, but whoever designed the range did not account for afternoon sun that shines directly in your eyes, making seeing your target through your rifle scope darn near impossible. My suggestion for this place: wear long pants, carry bug repellent, a hat, and sun glasses, or to make things easier, pick a different range.

It was super dirty, shell casings galore. But it is a straight forward range and I had alot of fun here. I went on a day when no one else was there so I got my pick of stands to choose from. I will definitely be going back again.

Nice place I like to get there early to avoid crowds and the wind is usually down earlier in the morning, and I can't complain it's free.

The range itself is decent. It's the people going there that make this place okay at best. First, people bring their trash to fire at and then don't pick it up. Second, their is no range master so people do whatever the hell they want. Safety is not followed at all here. Lastly, the county takes care of this place. So targets/stands/pallets are refreshed maybe once a month. This means after about a week it's just a bunch of shot up pallets laying around mixed in with your neighbors trash.
