Tried the rice rolls today. CASH ONLY Drinks:and was pretty decent. Food: beef rice rolls were 8/10! Texture were on point with what these type of rice rolls should be. Veggie rice rolls were 4/10. Price if rolls were on the expensive side compared to other rice roll places around NYC but they also have a really good in-door dinning area that other places don’t have. Great AC Environment were really nice. Bunch of tables, good staff.
fish rice roll. unexpectedly delicious. meaty fish with soft steam rice roll. made-to-order. $9 the chili sauce come was very good quality, lot of dried chili, and few dried garlic. i think i will return for curry combo fish ball, squid, pork
I’ve been here a couple times in the past month since my hair stylist recommended it. Good experience both times and service was good. The place is bright and really clean. Their rice noodle rolls are silky smooth and packed with ingredients, definitely not stingy at all which I think justified the higher price compared to other rice roll places. My favorite is the delicious Pork Liver Rice Noodle Roll, you can’t find it everywhere. The plain rice noodle roll w/ peanut sauce which I had last time was really good as well! We also tried the Lai Wan Style Assorted Congee and it was tasty. Definitely good comfort food. I also like their HK Style Milk Tea. This is a joint I recommend and will be back again and again!
We saw a line of people waiting outside so we decided to try it. Waited about 5-10 minutes for a 2 seater. Rice roll order can take a while to come 15m? But the congee came out fast. Preserved egg with pork congee is good. Some may find it average but there's nothing I can complain about. We plan to try the pork liver one next time. For rice rolls, the beef and shrimp with chives is ok good, the fried crueller is average, and the peanut sauce one is the best. Texture wise, they are smooth. In terms of flavor, the peanut sauce is packed with flavor literally in a container and probably our favorite. The red bean coconut drink is a must try. Price seems moderate for a store location. There aren't much things to get except congee, rice roll, and some appetizers.
Overall everything is authentic in terms of flavor including the HK milk tea and lemon tea. The service was quick as well. Here is what could be better: The seats could be more comfortable and spacious I know is nyc/ Chinatown but why not? Halfway into the jook I saw a tiny hair! Well they are graded with a health score of B so watch out. Also when they served you the book their thumb always touch something you might eat.
New favorite. Yin Ji Chang Fen. They have rice rolls, and they have congees. Congee is a savory rice porridge, you just cook rice in broth until it falls apart, basically. They have all kind. This is the Lai Wan with pork, squid, cilantro, egg, lettuce, peanuts, and i think dried fish? Super good. I took a photo of how it came, and how it looked after I stirred it up with all the bottom part showing. Total comfort food, if your comfort foods include squid I guess, which mine do. Norwegians and Asians, we're not afraid to eat all the seafood. The rice roll takes a very soft rice noodle and wraps it around filling, it all kind of merges together, then you eat it in a dish of soy sauce. So delicious. I got shrimp and chive. Also a Hong Kong style milk tea, which is basically ultra strong black tea with milk. Like a Thai iced tea, but not so sickly sweet. Very tasty, but I might not sleep tonight. Look at these prices. Winner! I'll be back for sure. I want to try everything.
A place for single traveler! Reasonable price and good food fair enough. kinda between 4-4.5 but added to 5 cause it was cheap. Chang fen was really outstanding with the chewy, thin skin outside. I was surprised that they added some greens as well. For healthy reason, I love it, but for overall texture, I prefer not. The curry sauce with pork skin, squid and fish ball was ok! Not bad but not a must. Eventually, soybean milk was my VIP lol!
They serve great steamed rice noodle or rice cake here. The price is good for the portion they offer. We also had the Hong Kong style hot milk tea and it was delicious.Food: 5/5
1/23/22: Had the shrimp congee with a side of fried dough 5 stars; I think congee is bland on its own so I add soy sauce and chili oil, the beef and shrimp with chives rice roll 4 stars, I prefer Sun Hing Lung, and the Hong Kong tea with condensed milk 4.5 stars.
Randomly passed by here and was surprised at their authentic Hong Kong cuisine. The portions for the meal were big and the prices was fair. Their Curry Combo was AMAZING and I would highly recommend! The coffee+tea drink B4 they served tasted the same when I had it back in Asia. Will definitely come back here!
