A Verb for Keeping Warm is an interactive space that features a retail fiber arts store, classroom, meeting place, dye garden, and production studio for artisanal naturally dyed yarn and fiber. Established in 2004 by Kristine Vejar, Fulbright scholar, and Mills College graduate, A Verb for Keeping Warm invests in Oakland’s vibrant fiber arts community.
Spinning, dyeing, knitting, sewing, felting and weaving are just some of the verbs used to describe how humans have kept warm over the centuries.
Our company honors these traditions by teaching a wide variety of classes in all of the above mentioned topics.
And we specialize in high providing high quality, unique, and environmentally responsible yarn, fabric, and fiber. We have an in house natural dyeing studio where we produce our own line of naturally dyed fiber and yarn.
