Customer service at this store is not up to par. On my recent visit employees there seemed very less interested in serving customers. Somehow you can feel not welcomed in the store, no one said anything. It is the general vibe of people working there in the store.

I went in prepared to spend about $750 on a new bike and accessories. I left without spending any money due to a lack of service and selection.  When no one had offered us help for the 10 minutes we were shopping on the bike aisle, I pressed the help button at the end of the aisle. After waiting and about ready to give up, an employee came running up and just wanted to turn the button off “so his manager wouldn’t yell at him.”  Once he figured out how to turn the button off, he said he knew nothing about the bikes and worked in the outdoor area. He repeatedly told us he knew nothing about bikes, and apologized.  I gave this store two stars because the worker went to the back and at least looked for a bike for me.

I went into Academy Sports to specifically purchase ammo and ammo cases. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of inventory they had. Really fair prices, as well. They were also running a veteran discount promotion, upon check out. I would definitely go back for more ammo, when needed.

We purchased a gun safe at Academy Spots in Olatha today, I can not say enough about the 3 men that helped us! Great customer service!  5-stars!!

I ordered a pair of shorts online and was excited to pick them up at the store with my daughter. However, things took a turn for the worse when the staff member in charge of pickups gave us the wrong size and left the security tag on.  As we were leaving the store, the alarm went off, and the staff member directed us to use the exit door, but the alarm sounded again. It turned out that he had forgotten to remove the security tag and didn't know how to do it.  We had to check whether we had been given the correct size and discovered that we had been given a large instead of the xs we had ordered. Due to his carelessness, we had to search for the correct size ourselves and asked another staff member who was folding clothes to help us locate it.  Returning the wrong size and exchanging it for the correct one was a bit of a hassle. The cashier told us that it required us to undergo an entirely new process! What a waste of time! Overall, the experience was disappointing. NEVER buy stuff from here online, I wouldn't recommend it.

Took forever to find an associate to be able to buy a grill. You could see 4 of them all standing around talking in the shoe department goofing off. One finally came over and didn’t even offer to help. We asked him 2 different times for help and the first time he said someone else was going to come and the second time he just walked away. Finally came back and “helped” us and just offered the display one without asking if we wanted a boxed unit. We were fed up with the attitude this kid carried and ended up going across the street to Lowes where they were more than helpful to get us the same exact grill we came to buy from here. Gabe, you cost your store a sale and I doubt you care with the attitude you carry.

Most academy sports are laid out in a similar way. The times the workers do not seem to be as knowledgeable on certain areas. It seems from my perspective that they have a somewhat delegated role and only no specifics related to that field. That’s understandable, considering it’s a large store with numerous items. This is in the best Academy sports store that I’ve been in, but it’s certainly not the worst.

If you are into anything in the outdoors, you will probably find what you need here.  Weather it is is sports, hunting, grilling or camping, they have a really good selection.  Some things are kinda pricey  but there is something for every price range.

Academy Sports is a great place to shop for many items. I go for their work boot selection. Their prices are competitive and usually comparable to other sports-type stores. Their staff is always pleasant. You are greeted at the door with a "welcome" every time. They truly appreciate their customers!

Went to Academy sports tonight to get my AFC Chiefs Championship shirt. Waited in line for 2 hours. The store handled all the fans so well. Over 500 people there. The staff was great and the check outlines ran smooth. The Chiefs are headed to the Superbowl. I'll be headed back to Academy after the Chiefs WIN the Superbowl to get another tshirt.
