The main purpose of Active Minds at Binghamton University is to utilize the student voice to raise awareness and reduce the stigma relating to mental health issues at Binghamton University and local communities.
Active Minds at Binghamton University strives to raise awareness and educate the campus community about various mental health issues such as: depression, suicide , stress related fatigue and eating disorders.
Our various initiatives include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Raise awareness of all mental health issues at Binghamton university and local communities.
2. Act as a liaison between students , faculty and the Health Services Department
3. Promote and create positive mental health initiatives on campus.
4. Educate community about the signs and symptoms of mental health disorders and encourage students to reach out for help when needed.
5. Refer individuals to mental health resources with the assistance of the Health Services Department and other Binghamton University clubs.
6. Erase the stigma relating to mental health by opening up avenues for conversation.
7. Diminish student stress through the utilization of "stress-free" events.
