The Addison Historical Society dates back to March 7, 1974, when a group of citizens saw the need to collect and preserve historical artifacts and materials, which would establish or illustrate the history of the area. The purpose of the organization, which began with 31 charter members, is to bring together those people interested in history, especially in the history of Addison, and is dedicated to promoting the understanding of that history.
The group meets four times a year, on the third Thursday of March, April, September, and October, at 7:30 p.m. in the Village Hall. There is an annual field trip for members, as well as a potluck dinner held in late Fall. Members sponsor seasonal craft workshops for children and help with tours of the buildings during school field trips and village events.
Over the years, the group has conducted garage sales, craft and cookie sales, raffles, and other fundraisers, to support the museum and the preservation of the Century House.
