Adrian made my TEAC A-6100 work and sound awesome!! I did not have any change for the parking meter in front of his store and he gave me some so I would not get a ticket! What a guy!!
Adrian is a jewel. This review is a bit late, he actually performed the work on my TASCAM 52 about 5 years ago. Left channel record circuit was intermittent which was fixed beautifully and he cleaned and brought the entire deck to factory spec with the exception of the record bias which I had him calibrate to RMG SM900, aka Record the Music SM 900, a Plus 9 formulation. Couldn't be happier with the result. As I said, it's been five years now and absolutely no issues. I hope the man lives forever.
I recently had two Teac recorders worked on by Adrian and am very satisfied. One was as an A 3300SX-2T. Adrian replaced the record and playback heads, cleaned up an serviced the tape transport and finally calibrated the machine for recording using the currently manufactured SM911 tape. I tested playback using a $200 Ballfinger Sampler tape purchased from Analogy Records and was extremely impressed with the playback quality. I've tested recording using both microphone and line in inputs and the results were great. The other machine was the quarter track X300R that had not been used in over 10 years. Adrian brought it back to life by changing the belts and servicing the transport. Adrian made sure that I new how to properly load the tape so that the auto reverse function engages. In conclusion, I highly recommend Adrian Proaudio Services.
I don’t think there are many people like Adrian left in the world. It’s not just his very specific expertise, his meticulously kept shop, or decades of experience, it’s that he listens to his customers, is very honest about what he does and what to expect from his work and/or the unit that you brought in for servicing. He also takes time to teach about the players and various tapes you may run into. And taking the time to teach is evidence of the very highest form of caring . After leaving the shop with my fully serviced and calibrated TEAC 2300s, while sitting in my car trying to get myself sorted for the ride back to Burbank, Adrian came over to my passenger window to remind me to flip all the switches on the front of the player/recorder from time to time to make oxidation didn’t set in. If you have a reel to reel player, pro or otherwise, and are within a couple hours of Adrian’s shop, do yourself a favor and bring your player into him for servicing. You’ll get it back as good as it can be. ...but beware, Adrian’s wit is sharp and subtle. Pay attention. ;-
Adrian is one of those amazing reel to reel gurus of which there are only a very few left. He has probably forgotten more than most 'experts' will ever know about reel to reel decks, and how to bring them back to life, better than new! Really nice guy to deal with and a gentle soul. If they had ten stars I would give them. The only place to get Otari, Tascam, TEAC, and Technics reel to reel decks serviced to be better than new!
I have been wanting to check this place out for a while. He did a great job refurbishing a Teac reel to reel deck I had given to me. When I picked it up yesterday, I was surprised how good it looked. He even made sure I knew how to use it and had some great tips about using old tapes. He really seems to care about his work.
The perfect place to have your retro audio gear looked after with care! Adrian is incredibly knowledgeable & thorough. The turn-around is quick and reasonably priced.
Adrian is among the most knowledgeable, skilled and meticulous tape recorder technicians on the planet today. This type of service is never inexpensive but you get what you pay for, professional, detailed, thorough service that won't come back to bite you later. Just look at his shop! It is a beautiful organized laboratory! A work of art! The nicest shop I've ever seen! Don't mess around! If you're serious about analog tape recording, bring your decks to him! Adrien is a tape machine repair master. He will repair it correctly the first time. He's fixed our TASCAM and Otari. And it is true, his shop is meticulously clean!
