My husband and I have been patients on the recommendation of a pulmonologist from Kennedy, it's been about 19 years. Yes, they are a busy office, and it can be hard to get through on the phone. Immediate appointments may not be possible with the doctor of choice, BUT, they always try to work you in with someone, and the other doctors and the nurse practitioner have been great, too. Dr. Furey conducts his practice with great integrity for good standard of care, truly LISTENS to his patients, and respects that they may know their body pretty well. My husband is a complicated medical case, a true challenge for a physician, and Dr. Furey has consistently been an advocate for health through lifestyle changes, medicines as needed, and a 'whatever works for you' practicality within the bounds of common sense. Many of the office team and assistants have been there for ages, and are a cheerful crew who take their jobs seriously.
If you were hoping to talk to someone, good luck. They don't answer phones. And by that I mean they don't even ring. You have to leave a message if your hoping to talk to them at all. This is totally inconvenient. And then if your lucky enough that they call you back soon, your appointment options are few and far between. Which most of the time negates the purpose of seeing a doctor. Dr. Furey is great, but you will almost never get to see him. You'll end up seeing someone else almost every time.
Not sure how to rate this place because I never had a chance to go. Their whole set up is ridiculous and frustrating. When you call, there's just a voice recording that tells you to leave a message for non-urgent issues, or to call two other numbers. I called one of the other numbers and the woman who answered the phone seemed surprised I called. She asked me if I called the other number to make an appointment. I said I did call, but nobody answered and it didn't say anything about what to do if you're trying to schedule an appointment. She said you're supposed to leave a message and the office will call back to schedule an appointment. She took my info and said someone will call me and couldn't give me am idea of how long it will take. I'm lying here in pain from an injury to my tailbone and so fed up with piss-poor general practices. I guess I'll go to Urgent Care instead. Seems that's where all my healthcare comes from these days. I have to say, you family practitioners are becoming more and more irrelevant and you don't seem to even care to put up any effort to prove your worth. I won't be sympathetic when you're all out of jobs.
