Airport (MBTA station)

Description

Airport Station is a rapid transit station on the MBTA Blue Line, located under the interchange between Interstate 90 and Massachusetts Route 1A in East Boston, Massachusetts. It acts as one of two mass transit connections to the nearby Logan International Airport, as well as serving local residents in East Boston. At Airport Station, trains switch from the third rail power used in the East Boston Tunnel to overhead wires used on the surface line to Revere. The original brick station built in 1952 was replaced by a modern station with steel and glass canopies in 2004.HistoryThe Metropolitan Transit Authority opened the first phase of the Revere Extension on January 5, 1952, with new stations at Airport, Wood Island, and Orient Heights. This phase connected the East Boston Tunnel at Maverick to the Boston, Revere Beach and Lynn narrow gauge right of way between Wood Island and Orient Heights. For a short distance that includes Airport station, this connecting line follows a right of way, now the East Boston Greenway, that was once used by the Grand Junction Railroad and the Eastern Railroad.

Pretty good station. Buses to and from terminals about every 3-5 minutes. The signage is pretty easy to understand. There's benches on each platform, yet almost all the time people are sitting on them.
The station itself is fine, but the shuttle service to and from the terminals is pretty bad. The only good thing about it is that its for free. Also, I don't quite understand why there's no decent options for walking to the terminals. They're really not far and I could've walked that distance about 4 times in the time I spent waiting for a very crowded bus from Terminal E. If Logan Airport actually wants to make using public transport a viable way of getting to and from the airport, they need to do much better as it takes at least two times as long now compared to when you use a car or about 5 times as long when you try to get there from the Somerville/Medford area. Pretty embarrassing compared to the public transport connections at other airports across the world, and in the US.
Took us a little wile to figure out how the trains work. Not that it's complicated but if you're not used to public transportation it can take a little while to figure out. There was nobody around which can be a good thing too. Either way we made it just fine. Good ride on the blue line
Connects the mtba to the airport, so its a crucial stop. Free shuttle from station to airport terminals. The station has been updated with real time arrival boards some years ago, which is really nice.
The closest MBTA station to Logan Airport. Very nice looking station and the blue line train is very clean
Awesome station. Just make sure you take the pedestrian ramp with the escalators to the other part of the platform if you want to take an Inbound train to downtown. You can stop at Government Central station to transfer to the green line as well.
This train station is on the Blue Line and is next to Logan International Airport. This station gives you quick and easy access to the airport terminals and the rent-a-car station by terminal buses. This station itself is pretty quiet but does get busy at times depending on the day and time. MBTA Ambassadors or employees are there and are able to answer any questions you might have about getting anywhere not just into the city and to/from the airport. Fare vending machines are on both sides of the train tracks.
was nice to ride the train around , very easy way to get around Boston
pretty nice station overall but its not really all that big its actually pretty small especially the Platforms once you get inside. accessible mostly ONLY be Elevator / Escalator both sides so many times you are very likely to miss one or two trains because of this design. it doesnt really have much to offer as services to the airport the ONLY way are the shuttle buses walking there is not recommended the area is confusing and can be hard to find its a pretty long 15-20 minute walk. also be careful of the area once outside the park/station itself can be very dangerous not a great neighborhood especially at night and the park is closed to ensure safety.
A modern enclosed above-ground station which is especially nice during the winter in Boston. Plenty of glass so it doesn't feel like you're in a cave, with wider-than-normal turnstile gates to accommodate baggage. You need to take a free 5-minute shuttle bus ride to actually get from the station to the airport terminals.
