We used to love this place. We've been customers family w/several artsy kiddos for more than 5 years. It's so disappointing that they've decided to enforce an arbitrary vaccine mandate. Which vaccines?! Flu? Covid? Unfortunately "Masking and proof of vaccination required" means we've taken our business elsewhere.
Karen has done a fantastic job! My daughter enjoys the kids ceramic classes.
I've seen friends take classes here pottery for a while and they've loved the classes! I am a local art teacher and started teaching art at a school that had not had visual art in the curriculum for several years. As a result, there weren't that many supplies and I was struggling with figuring out what I could do with a small budget. I posted, asking for help to the Albany community on the Albany Buy Nothing Group on Facebook that I am a part of. Karen graciously donated a LOT of art supplies to my art classroom!! I was blown away by her generosity. I packed up my car and she gave me things that weren't in use anymore and have come in handy in my classroom such as collage material, scrap fabric, tons of containers for paint water, crayons, and pencils, tempera paint, lots and lots of paper, and different odds and ends that you'd find around an art classroom. When I started my job, because of so many years without art, I walked into basically an empty classroom! It was so daunting, and Karen was so kind to me. The Albany Art Room really helped me hit the ground running for when the school year started. She donated crayons, aprons, and easels too! It really is so wonderful to make a connection with another artist and educator in the Albany area, and I think fondly of The Albany Art Room and Karen almost every few days when I use something in my classroom that she's given me. I am planning on taking some pottery classes at The Albany Art Room for fun, because I haven't been a student in an art class in a while. I am so excited to learn more about this space, the people, the classes, and the community it offers.
The Art Room is a great place for both kids and adults to explore their creativity. They offer classes, open studio hours, and do parties. If you're interested in pottery, wheels and everything you need can be found right there. Art supplies are also available for purchase.
I absolutely love this place! The building for one has the ambiance of an artist dream. It's incredibly inspiring! They offer many types of artistry for adults and kids there. I'm taking pottery classes and im having such a great time learning. It's worth every penny and I'm looking forward to doing more with them.
Albany Art Room is INCREDIBLE. I took a beginners pottery class with Janine last fall and it did not disappoint. I felt I learned so much making the class more than worth the price. Since then I've held several monthly memberships that offer customers essentially unlimited studio time during or after hours. During this time I was able to use their supplies to make gifts for family and friends. I've always been offered advice from friendly and knowledgeable staff when I need it. The spaces are always kept clean and I'm so glad that someone recommended this studio to me, such a gem!
Attended my granddaughter's birthday party. Children can work on a favorite craft project with their friends and then enjoy their refreshments in a separate room. Owner does an excellent job organizing and teaching the group and then letting then free to create.
We had my daughter's birthday party here last weekend and she LOVED it. Her friends had a great time, the staff was very friendly/helpful and everyone went home happy. Highly recommend!
We love the Art Room!! My kids make the most wonderful, fun, affordable pieces of art here. The open studio time is only $8 and you can make anything you wish!
Had a great visit. Wheelchair accessible first floor and workable restroom if you have a disability. I'll have to come back for a class.
