So I’m doing a review on Albert-tine Contour Braiding at 305 Muddy Branch RD Gaithersburg MD. They are open 24 hours a day so instead of waiting for your regular hairdresser or somewhere else you can always go there. The inside of it is primarily black as far as the braiders and the interior. But when I called to say I want to get flat twist done, they told me that it would be $15 for a washing because usually it’s $25. It’ll be 50 to take out my hair and it will cost me $80 to to get it done. around $145 when I usually calls me at my local place about $70 because the wash is already included. My total came up to $149. When you go inside it’s mostly black floors, black chairs. There is a little sitting area they’re selling pocketbooks Shea butter, other products in plastic containers with no names on it so if you’re not familiar with some of the stuff, then don’t worry about it because they don’t tell you what it is or whether you need it for your hair or not. Nothing behind the counter through that little see-through window. Did I want to purchase any of the stuff there’s no labels to let you know what it is  They’re primarily playing African Christian music YouTube over & over again if they do get to play any other African music until the manager comes in and he controls the remote and the register, when I looked at my hair it was done so small my appointment was for 10:30 AM. I arrived at 10:15 am & finished at 2:30 pm that was 4 hours. But the kicker is that when the hair braider goes up with you to the register, they say a whole different price she tacked on another $4 making the total $149. I still gave a $20 tip but after sitting there for four hours and doing my hair real tiny so the front is smaller than the back  The back has different sizes So when I came in I got my hair washed  that was  $15, usually $25 then she took out 5 to 7 braids that cost me $50 then $80 to do my hair so so very uneven  plus I think the lady that did my hair charged me the $4 for a can of mousse because my goodness she used so much of it that my hair is so limp. Oh my goodness I kept dozing off because I was like Let’s Get It Let’s Go!!  the only thing I can say about this place is that it is a traditionally African hair braiders shop. They do provide the hair if you want extra or colored weave

I drive 2 hrs to Albertine every couple months ! This is, hands down, theeeee best salon in Gaithersburg, MD. Human hair, no shedding … use multiple times! Great atmosphere! She’ll have you leaving , looking & feeling like a celebrity Services:&nbsp;Kids' cuts

I loved my experience. Just double check they have your hair color before going, I didn’t but i still loved the outcome. I went in for boho box braids shoulder length and I was out in under 4 hours! The price was very reasonable, I will be definitely coming back on the regular!Service:&nbsp;Braids

If you got braids here and paid a $5 fee for using a debit card, call your bank for a refund and report this place to the maryland state attorney general. I am filing a report notifying the state attorney.  A surcharge cannot be charged against a debit card. It is illegal. I am reporting this establishment to the state attorneys office.  What is also illegal is charging more than 3% as a card processing fee. They charge $5 for all card transactions.  Thanks to Elizabeth who did my braids well.  I got braids a year ago and came today to be told the braids would be 220-300. The audacity. No wonder each time i come here there are new people. Ended up getting the braids for $200. Any business without posted prices and where the price can go from $250 to $200 is a scam. Even more of a scam is charging $5 when people pay by card. If you cannot bear the costs associated with running your business, close the shop.Service:&nbsp;Braids

I’ve been with  Albertina for nine years.  During the 25 years I’ve had extensions no one has been able to do the job Albertina does.  I have short, thin hair and after a session with Albertine, I have long hair that flows naturally.  She can perform miracles. Her team also does a great job.  You can’t go wrong with her salon!

As an African, I am very disappointed with the service I got. You guys gave me what I asked for versus what I got. I am very displeased. It’s the owner audacity for me. She asked me to add more money to the initial $200 we agreed on. Saying that my hair was longer than the style I choose of course I said no. Was my hair supposed to be shorter ?. All she/the owner cares about is just money not her customers. I am so close to filing a dispute for wasting my time.Service:&nbsp;Braids

I made an appointment online for 5:45pm to get Cornrows. I arrived by 5:35pm but had to wait until almost 6:30pm for them to finish other clients. This was not the problem as I did not mind the wait but the price I was quoted online was not the price given after completing the service. They have $35 listed online for 10-12 Cornrows but charged me $55. I advise you to confirm the price with them prior to starting service. Having to wait an hour and then being overcharged made this a very underwhelming experience. They did a good job on my hair which is why this is a 3 star rating and not a 1 star.

My first experience with Albertine hair salon was good which was a year ago but my second not so much. The prices arent consistent, you're told one price them get to the register and itll be $40+ additional.  Forget about booking online, call to schedule your appointment because the price you book online will not be the same in person. The owner is not very friendly and professional with her customers, I've gotten hung up on, and my calls were fwd. when I tried to call to book appointments & verify pricing. Their prices are expensive!! The workers are okay but they take long, so I would not book any activities afterwards. They play tons of Christian African music for hours, I normally just go to sleep. Depending on the time can get chatty & loud. Salon looks clean. When you go to checkout they always call the owner before checking you out. Overall, you can get better service somewhere else.Theyre tons of braiding salons that will provide that for you and with cheaper and consistent pricing with professional courtesy.

I highly recommend Albertine Salon in Gaithersburg. I got crochet braids and they did a beautiful job. I wasn’t sure what hair I should get and Albertine went with me to the beauty supply store. Everyone in the salon was helpful and friendly.Service:&nbsp;Braids

I had a great experience here. I have a short pixie cut and this shop was the only shop that took me and didn’t charge me an arm and a leg. They were polite, quick, and professional but still had a fun and lively vibe in the shop. I got exactly what I asked for and some. Thanks so much!Services:&nbsp;Braids
