So I love museums. It peaceful, and calming. I went on a day they were prepping for an event. More than half the exhibits I wanted to see were closed. There was an annoying “check. Check. Check. Mic check “ being repeated a thousand times.. then as I was oerusing the exhibits I could go in, this guy followed me and stared at me the whole time… not cool and I don’t think I want to return… not a pleasant visit.
Loved the Allentown Art Museum today as I have for over 30 years. It's always clean, well curated and organized, and showcases a really broad selection of art through the ages. The special exhibits are always worth it. I visited the museum many times with my kids when they were young. The museum staff do a great job including families in the joy of appreciating and creating art. Right now it's free, but I donated. So many people work hard to sustain an ever growing and community centered art museum. We are very lucky to have it. I enjoyed the Arts Park across the street from the museum, next to The Baum Art School. There, I met up with a powerful DaVinci horse!
Allentown has a quiet little art section. At least it was quiet when we went on Sunday. Nice museum. Everyone was super nice. Free to get in on Sundays. We saw a Rembrandt which was cool. Free parking. They had a small eating area that served small items but COVID brought that to an end. Worth a stop and see.
This is such a great museum and it has free admission! Majority of exhibits available in English and Spanish, lots to see, and a great museum store. Also, not advertised but there are free tours of the museum given by trained docents on Sunday's. Awesome visit and so much to see for a small city like Allentown!
Awesome museum for what they had open! Construction closed a better part of the galleries and there weren’t many painting just knickknacks and ceramics. 1 thing that did bother me was being welcomed, the receptionist seemed to be sleeping or just woke up and he didn’t give off a friendly vibe just started asking me random questions. Overall my family and I were pleased with the rest of the museum, great staff and good conversation. Also it’s free!
Worth visiting the museum. When I visited, they had the exhibit Who Shot Sports? It was really well kept up, had wonderful illumination, and had some rare collections. One of my favourite images from this exhibition, which featured many photographs of sportsmen from various sports and backgrounds. Kids can use a room on the second floor to express themselves artistically and creatively.
We went for the new exhibits on MARCH 20th. Oddly, the security dudes seemed to follow us for the better part of our visit! Not a good feeling. Respectfully, Negro families do visit art museums. Anyway, we donated at the door and shopped in the gift shop. The ladies in the gift shop were attentive and nice. #blackartmatters.
Small art museum at the center of Allentown. Interesting exhibits. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, and eager to share info! Good for family with kids. Ask for kids activity kits. Good pit stop for a few hours. Would recommend if you are in the area.
I LOVE the art museum. The Washi paper art exhibit is incredible. Hurry up and go see it before it's over! I've been here several times and never realized you can make art for free upstairs at the Crayola studio. I made a head but they were doing pots to celebrate one of the featured artists' exhibits. Sundays are free but DONATE!!Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYesPrice for adult entryFree
