The sisters of the Epsilon Kappa chapter are a diverse group of women in which each sister brings her own unique perspective and personality to the chapter. Becoming a member of Alpha Phi is an excellent way to network and get involved at West Chester University. Alpha Phi boasts sisters who are members in other student organizations such as the Track Team, Honors Scholars Program, Study Abroad Program, Orientation Leaders, R.H.A. and the Pan-Hellenic Counsel. In Alpha Phi, you will find that friendships develop beyond surface level and blossom into lifelong friendships.
Alpha Phi has a ton of sisterhood, community service, social and philanthropy events scheduled for the sisters of Epsilon Kappa to take part in and grow as a chapter.
Alpha Phi is one of the largest women's fraternal organizations in the world, with over 200,000 initiates and 146 collegiate chapters internationally.
PHILANTHROPY:
Alpha Phi Foundation:
Alpha Phi Foundation, founded in 1956, is one of the oldest Greek foundations for women. It was set up as a trust to award grants from scholarship and cardiac aid funds. Today, two original priorities remain: to encourage and recognize superior scholarship and to support women’s cardiac health. The Foundation also funds programs that provide leadership and educational opportunities, educate women about philanthropy and assist members in need
At West Chester:
In our efforts to support the Alpha Phi Foundation we hold annual events to raise money for the cause:
48 Hour Teeter Totter
The Red Dress Gala
Candy Gram Sale, and
Greek Night Live
FOUNDERS:
At a time when society looked upon women only as daughters, wives, and mothers—and therefore not in need of higher education—our ten founders were pioneers of the co-educational system. Attending school with the handicap of implied, if not open, opposition, our founders sought support from one another. There was a need for a social center, a place of conference, a circle of friends who could sympathize with one another in their perplexities. They formed Alpha Phi in 1872 to meet these needs.
