Since 1998, The Miss WCU Program has provided close to $40,000 in scholarships and prizes to women leaders at West Chester University.
Founded in 1998 by then West Chester University freshman Michael Hartman as the Miss Killinger Hall competition, Miss West Chester University grew from a Residence Hall Activity to an annual campus wide scholarship competition that has awarded close to $40,000 in scholarships and prizes to emerging women leaders of the West Chester University campus.
The Miss West Chester University Scholarship Organization is unique in its mission to other pageant programs. Miss WCU is an organization that actively encourages women of all shapes, sizes, orientations, ethnicities, and backgrounds to participate in its yearly competition, and each year draws a diverse pool of some of the most recognized young women leaders of the West Chester University campus to compete for the chance to represent WCU as an ambassador.
Each contestant and yearly titleholder chooses a service platform that, should they receive the title of Miss West Chester University, uses the support of the program and community to promote her platform through various service projects and appearances throughout her year as Miss WCU
Each year the program culminates into the one night competition where contestants compete in the areas of off-stage interview, casual wear, talent, evening wear, and on-stage interview. The program is one of the most popular events of the year at West Chester University, frequently selling out with the women performing for crowds of 1000+ students and community members.
The Miss WCU program is proud to count among its past titleholders and contestants such accomplished women that have gone on to become doctors, lawyers, academic professionals, business leaders, media personalities, and performing arts professionals.
The Miss WCU Scholarship program aims to create an opportunity for emerging women leaders on the WCU campus to showcase their leadership and academic achievements by providing scholarships and visibility to the women of West Chester University.
