They are very caring towards the animals and owners. They also give you great advice.
The 3 Ladies that work there and their love of animals IS the reason I take my fur baby to this vet. I've been going there for last 12 years and I can't imagine taking my dog anywhere else. They truly care about my dogs health and how to take care of an animal with a disability. Thanks Ladies!! Marley and I both love y'all !!!
I am greatfull for the staff at Altoona Veterinary Hospital. They saw my 17 year old cat within 2 hours of contacting them when 5 other vets in the area told me it would be a 2 week wait for an appointment. I don't believe my cat would have survived if I had waited 2 weeks to treat her. I had lab results and a treatment plan in less than 24 hours and within 2 days my cat was doing much better. The staff here see a need to provide excellent care at an affordable price for all pet owners and they fill that need. Our community is made better by their service.
Small office but super helpful staff. They have always been supportive and informative even if they had to send us to another vet for something they couldn't do or help us with. Dr. Is kind and not trying to get rich off of animals suffering. Meg and the girls are wonderful. <3
They are very good with our puppy Sam..always very nice and attentive..
I've never been treated so terribly by a vet. He acted like my pet was a giant wild animal and made me feel like I abuse my pet. He made me feel like an idiot. He wouldn't even come close to the table to examine him, like he was scared of my little cat. He made me feel embarrassed to even have brought him in, like I was crazy to think that I should be worried about the issue. I don't recommend this vet to anybody. It wasn't the vet techs at all. They were the best part of the visit. They were very kind. Especially the lady at the front desk. As for him, again I DO NOT and WILL NEVER recommend nor visit this office again. If you're going to be a veterinarian, you can't be scared of animals.
I have to admit that I am somewhat confused regarding the negative reviews I've seen; our experience is markedly different. We were up visiting family for the week when one of our fuzzy children got hurt chasing a rabbit on the evening of July 4th. We were able to clean and dress her wounds, subsequently keeping her comfortable through the night. After redressing the wound we discovered it was substaintally worse than we had thought. As we called around to area vets we were met with the same casual response, "We Do Not take emergency walk-ins and are not taking new patients, would you like the number to the emergency hospital in Pittsburgh or State College?" That is until we got a hold of Altoona Veterinary Hospital. The receptionist told us to bring her right down. Everyone we met expressed genuine concern approaching our little girl as if she was theirs. The Vet confessed that has been shying away from big dogs, our little girl is 130lb Dane mix, but immediately said that he would help us since no one else would and our vet is 3+ hrs away. He even started apologizing to us because it might get a little pricey with the number of sutures and amount of anaesthesia. "It may even be $350 to $400." For anyone that has ever run into an emergency visit you know how ludicrous it is that he'd apologize for such a minor amount for our kids.
Our Golden Retriever became sick, it was the first time seeing this vet, we explained her symptoms over the phone & they accommodated and reassured us, receiving the first available appointment, I can't commend the staff enough on how wonderful they were, & the excellant treatment by the Vet. We Will definitely change to their services for all future appointments for our animal care. Great experience !!!
They were wonderful to my cat Sami Jo. She has a severe case of ear mites which I know nothing and they were terrific. They didn't make me feel like an idiot for not knowing better.
I wouldn't even give this vet one star, but I had to in order to leave a review. The ladies that work there are awesome, but the vet himself is a joke. If you truly care about your pet do not take them here, the vet will tell you everything is okay and prescribe antibiotics for everything. This place is a waste of money and a death trap for any animal that truly needs medical care.
