Was involved in a hit and run and when I approached the drives he displayed a gun towards me. I called the cops and the dispatcher says "I don't believe he has a gun" How would she know? The individual with the gun leads me to his apartment, gets out of the car and chases me with his weapon in which I drive away. I later spot officers and lead them to the individuals car. They tell me without a 3rd party witness they can't search him for a weapon. I'm 1000% sure I saw that weapon. Ames PD doesn't care about protecting the community..Not one bit.
The police parking division is the worst. They think they’re so cool driving their tiny trucks and threatening tickets to people when they’re waiting for someone to get picked up. I also got several tickets even though I parked on the app. I appealed and got no reply, instead I got a letter from collections.
I had the chance instead of the misfortune to deal with one of the Ames police force recently. Pam answered the call in a friendly personable way and gave me all the information I needed to pursue results for my problem in an expedited manor. From past experiences I find this to have been an almost enjoyable one. Were it not for the reason I called it would have been. I applaud these officers if even part of them are as efficient and courteous as the one I interacted with. Thank you for your time.
Officer Blair, we are so grateful for your compassion that you showed us when we were at our worst. You are an asset to the city of Ames police department. Your calm demeanor helped ease our worst fears. Please know that we truly appreciate all you do.
Serously? I'm the first to write a review for the Ames Police Department? These guys are awesome. They really listen to the people they deal with and provide incredible service. Ames isn't that small of a town anymore, but our police act like they live in a far smaller place and really care. For client confidentiallity I can't give out specific details, but they have often gone way out of their way and at least once while on personal time to help my clients when they needed it. Ames is very fortunate to have all of them!
I'm a manager at a late night restaurant, we deal with a lot of drunk students, we had one get violent in our store. I called Ames PD, they said an officer was on the way. They never showed up
Doesn’t take noise complaints seriously when someone hasn’t slept in a week. Told us to deal with it ourselves after our apartment complex told us to call them if we had issues.
I was assaulted and the individual broke 5+ lows but did not get arrested or a single charge she also stole $150+ of my stuff still nothing because "there hands are tied"
I Just watched Ames p.d. bring child seats and ice cream for kids. Pretty nice .
It is crazy. I am waiting for 2hours at my house to make a police report. That is not Right.
