It is Tennessee Mexican food. That said, it was pretty good. I got the combo lunch plate that was reasonably priced and a large portion than I needed for lunch. My hard shell taco was good; the meat was well seasoned. The stand out was the deconstructed chile relleno which was not encased in a deep fried batter. It was a welcome change. As was the use of a tasty Anaheim chile instead of the more common bland Poblano. I appreciated the complimentary chips and salsa, but the salsa was very mild again, Tennessee and rather bland. Overall, it's a nice place with mostly well-prepared food. Definitely a satisfying lunch stop.
Don't make the same mistake I did and get this place confused with the Brainerd restaurant of the same name but completely different ownership. This place was a waste of time and money and I'll never go back. Called in an order and was told they had one cook and a large party so it would be about 20 minutes. Completely understandable situation and still pretty dang fast. However, arrived and was told another 20 minutes, after pushing the cashier to go ask the cook exactly how long because "I don't know" isn't an acceptable answer. Returned after 20 minutes, then waited an additional 45 minutes to get our food after being told every 15 minutes only upon asking that it would be another 5 minutes. Watched parties come in after us, get seated and brought food despite us sitting there in the lobby clearly waiting. The place was half full at best. Watched most of the staff walk around looking busy despite obviously doing little to nothing when they could have been helping the lone cook or offering us water or chips. Finally asked for a refund as our food was coming out only to be asked in a snarky voice, presumably by the manager, "so you want to take your food AND get a full refund?" He didn't introduce himself and wasn't on the floor at all in that hour and a half until he was needed for the refund - hopefully he was working in the kitchen. Then he proceeded to give my friend cash even though we both paid on cards and when I asked for a refund to my card, got more attitude with "cash would be faster." Then he held us up 5 more minutes while he fumbled around clearly untrained on the register. Got home only to realize the person who entered our phone order STILL got my dish wrong after being told 4 times what dish I wanted and to verify that she understood it was enchiladas, a staple at any Mexican restaurant. Clearly a terribly mismanaged restaurant with mediocre, pre-packaged foods. Zero reason to ever go there. If it were my restaurant, I would fire the manager and the cashier on shift this afternoon. And then I would actually train everyone else correctly and study how to hire a proper manager before finding a new one.
Went for lunch. Fast seating and table greet despite being busy. I normally get the Chimichanga lunch. It has great flavor but is only a 6" tortilla so it's kind of small. I was really hungry so for a few dollars more I decided to get the chicken fajitas. I was very happy with my decision. They came out really fast and hot. It was a large amount of fajitas for the price. Definitely would recommend.
We used to go every Monday until I got sick. Then I had them bring me some every now and then. My husband took me to the restaurant before the big rush and it was wonderful. I had tacos and he had nachos and if was great! Our server was not busy so we got the best service ever. That's my opinion-go see for yourself ! Wheelchair accessibility: They have handicapped parking by the front door and a ramp with them.
It’s like Taco Bell which don’t recommend unless you need quick last minute food actually, Taco Bell sauces taste better than the tomato sauce salsa they serve. This location must be the worst one, because I tried the one on St. Elmo and everything was better; although not as well as Mexican food can be, it was alright. At this other location, however, every single order was wrong and the issue was not remedied. The beans were tasteless, the salsa was terrible and the hot one easily masked the tomato sauce- like quality, chips were cold, the sautéed veggies were over cooked, the rice was not fresh. The presentation was messy as if thrown together. As a person who understands various types of Latin cuisine, this place completely failed. I’m sure it is well known that the quality is not great, but if patrons do not voice up, they won’t do anything about it. Cooks should do better, and leadership should work on increasing restaurant effectiveness for the consumer. Save your money and go somewhere else. I recommend looking at pictures in reviews, compare them to the reviews here; you will see a difference.
Had a special on tacos. Didn’t get the special, looked nasty when friends ordered it. I had 3 regular tacos, comparable to Taco Bell for taste and quality. Wife ordered chicken burrito. Chicken was dry and way over cooked. For $34.00 with sodas and a moderate tip, way overpriced. Won’t be going back. Parking: Easy parking.
3 years ago I had left a 5 star review. Today it's 2 stars. The prices have skyrocket while quality and taste have dwindled down. They use some sort of orange seasoning on the grilled/fajita chicken and this makes it tastes like Tuna! It's nauseating. The last visit I asked to please get the chicken without that seasoning and was told I'd have to buy a chicken breast grilled on the side for $12 to not get the seasoning. Ummm, not a chance because the entire nachos are less than that cost. Makes no sense. Until this year it cost us an average of $25-$28 for 2 dinners and 2 drinks. Now it's almost $40 plus tip. They painted the restaurant white and changed the name to include "Cocina" in an effort to appear more high end. It is not. It's maybe 2 levels above Taco Bell and at least Taco Bell grilled chicken tastes like chicken!
Went there today and got my usual chimichangas that I get all Mexican restaurants. Both were burnt on both ends. I had to get the waitress to get me another order. She did express they were cooked well done. Which I don’t understand why I still received them. My partner got the tacos and he complained that they seemed drowning in water. Apparently they marinate them in water? And makes your tortillas extra sloppy wet. This by far the worst Mexican we’ve ever had. We will not be back
Go here at least 3x's a week for lunch, the waitresses, the cooks, everyone is amazing! Food is always on point and AJ always keeps a great looking place and his customers happy. A must stop and chill, for a bite if you are looking for a new favorite.Food: 5/5
Food was good, highly recommend calling if you're going with 6+ people. Had to wait 15 minutes for a table to finish before we could be seated. They also forgot my food but got filled up on chips/salsa so not too badFood: 5/5
