The Anatomical Apron by Joy !! has been designed to be an educational tool which will help demonstrate both the physical and physiological revisions that take place when an ostomy surgery occurs.
The anatomical apron is approximately realistically proportioned to the adult human body so the client has a practical point of reference to his or her body structure. The apron has openings in the two flaps that cover the G.I. tract so the client can further visualize what and where the opening in the abdominal wall will be postoperatively. Because it is an apron the wearer is free to move around and not limited to staying in one location in the room when teaching. The Anatomical Apron will help provide easy visual demonstrations of the digestive process as well as difficult to explain surgical procedures such as a sigmoid colostomy, double barrel ostomy, loop ostomy, ileostomy, and Ileal conduit (urostomy).
