Anderson Cemetery is a family-operated cemetery in rural Panola County. Jonathan, "Old Shelby," Anderson is buried in the cemetery and is honored as a Soldier of the Republic of Texas, having served in the Battle of San Jacinto in April, 1836.

Jonathan Anderson donated 100 acres for the Panola County Seat with the site designated in Carthage, Texas.
