Annie’s Resale for the World is a nonprofit resale shop supporting the extreme poor in the Chicagoland area and around the world.
Having worked for several international Christian relief organizations over the past ten years, Donald and Annie Farrell, the founders of Annie’s Resale for the World, traveled around the world and had the opportunity to witness firsthand the personal pain and despair of deep poverty. They have also had the privilege of seeing the incredibly powerful work of local church and community leaders who are dedicated to lifting their communities out of impoverishment and bringing impoverished people and communities into a life of promise and hope.
Our mission is to support these leaders in their noble and tireless efforts.
We call the people we support our “Partners”. We share our donated goods, our cash gifts and our financial profits with them to help support their work of educating children, providing food, shelter and emergency relief to families, and strengthening local churches and community development programs.
We know each of our Partners personally. We visited their countries, walked beside them witnessed firsthand their work in towns and villages throughout Haiti, Asia, and Africa. Our Partners were selected to receive our support because of the high level of integrity, trustworthiness, and commitment we see in their work around the world.
In addition, our Chicago Partner has a proven history of successfully serving single mothers through the city and suburban areas.
We established our store by combining our desire to help our Partners with our own long-held passion for resale shopping. All items donated to us are carefully inspected and prepared for our sales floor. Our overall goal from a merchandising perspective is to present a clean, pleasant “boutique” shopping experience for our customers, with a consistent level of good quality items for sale - all at comparable resale prices.
In addition, we are often able to obtain beautifully handcrafted items from local artisans when our Partners come to our shop to visit or stay in our homes. The sale of their items in our shops adds income to their family budgets and helps to improve the quality of their lives on many levels.
We also attract people who love to travel. Time and again, they donate to our store gifts purchased from artisans in countries they visited. Please visit us often – you never know what unique treasures you might find!
