Great family campground if you have small kids. Pros: everything is very clean and staff are incredibly nice. Site was very clean, we had a patio site with a beautiful fire pit and swing. The bath houses were very clean. The game room is small but a nice touch and the store is pretty well stocked. Couple things to note: it is a very small campground which has its charms. You definitely do not need to bring a golf cart or bikes. The map and pictures online make it look bigger. My site was directly next to playground with only a chain link fence between it. I’m glad I left dogs home because they would have gone bananas with all the people. Yes, there is a train that runs through quite often. I wasn’t too bothered by it but if you’re a light sleeper it might bother some. There’s also a pretty busy road that runs right behind the sites but there is a vinyl fence separating. Truthfully the most annoying noise was the people putting trash in dumpster before seven am which is not the campgrounds fault. Overall we had a very pleasant stay. I’d definitely recommend for families with younger kids and it’s definitely ran by some of the friendliest people on the planet.
We travel full time and have been coast to coast. We move every week to a month. We stayed here for the month of December and this campground is by far 1 of the best we have ever been too. It is clean but most importantly the owners and staff are the nicest and friendliest we have ever been too. It is very convenient to anything you you or want to do in the area. There is a train next to the campground that we liked the sound of as we find it peaceful. Thank you for having us in your campground
This is a great little campground. The staff is friendly and helpful. The grounds are kept clean. It was perfect for us since we spent everyday exploring all the historical sites nearby. YES, there is a train right behind the campground, but we thought it was cool. But if you were in a tent, I’m sure it would have been loud.
Anvil Campground was a fantastic experience. The receptionists was nice and provided helpful information. I pull a 40ft fifth wheel and parking was a breeze. My children all enjoyed the free arcade, pool and park. This is a well maintained park with lots of small amenities such as free snow cones, pop corn and coffee weekends. My dog enjoyed the dog park and walking trails. The bathhouse was very nice and well maintained, coin laundry is on sight and the general store provided change. Anvil is a convenient location for all the local attractions. I will most certainly stay at this campground again.
Hello I would love to give my review we just stay for one night this pass Sunday on to Monday! Yes there is a train that come all hours of the night and they don’t sell hair ties at the store! But let me tell you my husband and I and our children love it there we stay for the first time in 2019 in a tent but this pass weekend we stay in a cabin and love both times! I’m sorry I’m bad with name but both night and day time shift ladies that work are so friendly and nice that are what make you a great camp ground! I would go in to the over 100 times and both of them always had a smile on their faces and always so friendly and try to help! We will be coming back and will bring more friends.
We picked the place due to its proximity to area attractions, it turned out to be a perfect location for that. The campground is kept very clean and everyone was friendly. Anvil is small, not a bad thing at all, but has something for everyone. We still have more to see here and would stay again without a hesitation.
My family and I stayed at Anvil last week. The campground is extremely well maintained and all the staff that we interacted with were very friendly and helpful. The campground is small but what it lacks in size it makes up for in amenities. The camp sites are well maintained and our 30' camper fit with no issues. We brought our dogs with us and the dog run areas were a huge plus. There is a fantastic arcade/game room that is included in your booking price as well as a couple of really nice play areas for kids. The bath houses are extremely clean. Anvil is very close to Historic Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown and Bush Gardens. We decided to extend our trip by a day and Anvil made that process very easy. We will definitely be staying at Anvil in the future! I have seen some other post about the train that goes through the campground. We loved getting to see the train each day. The train does come through at night sometimes but I would say it's something interesting and fun instead of a bother.
Great campground! Updated bathrooms and very clean. Very fun game room for some down time! We had a premium site which I really recommend. The location was perfect for sightseeing! There was a train that went by regularly but it was not a big deal. Overall, a great place!
A very nice campground that we will certainly return to! Clean, well kept with impressive, quality hookups, cable, and STRONG WIFI. The heated pool was another great amenity! We do not have young ones, but the playgrounds looked impressive too. Now, to be fair, there are train tracks next to the campground. However, the trains were not frequent and it really did not disturb us. In summary, this campground is very near the top of the list of campgrounds we will definitely return too!.
Nice place. Cool that they have a free arcade/playroom.. Pool. Playground, dog parks etc etc. Nice staff. RV, tent and cabin sites.... Only negative is it's right next to train tracks, but you tune them out fairly quickly.
