The Aquaculture Research Institute (ARI) was launched in July 2009 by Maine Economic Improvement Fund (MEIF) and the University of Maine.
ARI is an interdisciplinary research unit that conducts world-class research, graduate education, and environmental outreach focused on the development of sustainable aquaculture in Maine and the USA. ARI combines the research strengths of the University of Maine with with those of its outstations (CCAR, DMC and Co-operative Extension).
ARI aims to deliver a world leading platform for shellfish and finfish aquaculture research to increase the volume of both commercial and non commercial aquaculture research in Maine, and to enhance the Aquaculture Industry in Maine and the USA.
