This is the official page for the Pi Beta Phi Maine Alpha chapter at the University of Maine.
The Maine Alpha chapter of Pi Beta Phi was founded at the University of Maine on May 24, 1920.
Our organization is built off of six core values: Integrity, Lifelong Commitment, Honor and Respect, Personal and Intellectual Growth, Philanthropic Service to Others, and Sincere Friendship. All of our members live out these values each and every day through our multiple philanthropies that we hold each semester, supporting our fellow Greeks at their events and get-togethers, and sister bonding activities.
The organization of Pi Beta Phi as a whole was founded on April 28th, 1867 by a group of 12 independent college women at Monmouth College in Illinois. We were the first organization to be founded as a national fraternity, before the word "sorority" even existed.
The mission of Pi Beta Phi Fraternity for Women is to promote friendship, develop women of intellect and integrity, cultivate leadership potential and enrich the lives of members and their communities.
