Getting to this campground was a breeze. Check in was easy albeit the recording keeping was a little unorganized. The site right on the water was just right and I really appreciated the port-a-potty just a few steps away. The camp ground was so nice and very clean, with a pavilion and picnic table. Staff was great getting us in/out of the water for our float. If you want a family friendly site without the noise, this is it.
Last minute travels in the heat of summer from Sugar Loaf Lake, Arkansas to Sullivan, MO. 107° in Aransas, so I decided to find a campground last minute, in the heat of summer. Crazy right? Yes, I took a chance. Most I found were full, far too costly, or just to far & in the wrong direction for just a sleep over. There I sat, at the flying J c-store, zoom in on map one more time with great hope there was SOMETHING! YEP! you guessed it! One phone call to the Arapahoe family campground and I was on my way to what was one of my best experiences ever. And for only $8.66. AND... Just 6.2 miles in Sullivan!!! Miracles do happen!! Now don't get me wrong there was a little excitement and somewhat overwhelmed as I had to crash campgrounds looking for an implement to unlock my car since I locked myself out at 10pm. Thankful there were campers up SHOUT OUT TO CAMPER SHAWN from New York , AND HIS FRIEND- forever in debt for unlocking my car! Angels with Blessings! thankful fires were burning so I could see my way! yes flashlight was locked in car. The rope swing was not in use. And of course I wasn't prepared with swimsuit or river shoes. Somehow I didn't even feel like getting in the water! I walked around and took pictures enjoying the aviance, swimmers and floaters, music, laughter in the air, and smiles on everyone's faces! Campfires and cooking! Many open camping sites! This is a SUPER AWESOME place! It just became my favorite spot Knowing there's a chance I'll make this trip up to 8x's a year, I will be seeing you again at the Arapahoe Canoe or Raft Rental on the Meramec River in Sullivan Missouri!! Thank you for the kindness and generosity I found. What a special and fun place to be
They get three stars because the river is pretty. If you want to kayak, go somewhere else. The seats are a hard plastic folding type. They’re warped into forward facing C shapes due being folded down and having other kayaks stacked on them. That’s the most uncomfortable 2.5 hour river float I’ve ever been on. The owner was nice. His staff were lifeless zombies who had weird rules. DO NOT TOUCH THE TIRE SWING. THE LOCALS WILL COME FOR YOU!!! This is no joke. If you want to raft or float then this place is fine. We kayak because we like exorcise. Do not kayak here. The camp ground is clean.
We had a wonderful time -- stayed there 2 nights on Tuesday and Wednesday, and it was super quiet, shady with lots of trees, right on the river and staff were incredibly nice and helpful. It was also really convenient how they send a staff person with us in our car we have our own canoe and kayak to the take out 13.5 miles up river, and he drove our car back to the campground and then we just floated down the river back to our camp. There are other floats of 9 miles and 4-5 miles you can do this way too.
We had a great time at the Arapaho campgrounds! Friendly staff and a great set up right along the riverside. I really enjoyed the provided electric and park bench with covered patio on the campsite. The float itself was great and definitely a good stretch of river to explore and enjoy. We will definitely be back soon.
For a basic camp ground this place is great. Friendly staff made sure we had everything we needed and some laughs to go along with it... would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a camping or floating spot. we will be back thanks
Loved it there! Most beautiful and peaceful place to camp! Loved the owners. They were really nice and very helpful. Enjoyed camping there! Will do it again :
Best place ever. If your a camper or tent and you need help they are there. Fully equipped professional and friendly. I no I'm there every weekend. Thanks to the owner and staff for a wonderful experience weekend after weekend.
We came looking for a floating trip and it was just amazing!!!! The ride couldn't be better, the host was nice and helpful, the price is excellent... Oh! And they are pet friendly too!!! We did enjoyed it and we will come back for sure!!!! Thanks Garyl!!!
Honestly this campground doesn't deserve 1 star. We reserved and paid for an electric/water rv site 2 weeks prior to arriving. When we arrived the lady at the desk was completely unorganized, tried to put us in one spot that was already taken and put us in the wrong spot after that. The owner didn't introduce himself when he drove up on us asking numerous questions, was rude, arrogant, and disrespectful. There was what I assume to be a couple outside with the guy yelling in the womans face and the lady who checked us in was arguing with another guy too. Then the spot for rv electric and water was in a horrible location, not maintained and across from a permanent camper set which one of the people arguing drove to We asked for a refund for our floating and camping which they did not agree to so we ate the cost of $400+ and left the campground. We did not feel our family was safe at this campground and will not return.
