My experience with Arbour's Partial Hospitalization Program was exceptional, and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone seeking a step-down alternative to inpatient psychiatric treatment. I found the staff Emily, Haley, Judy, Melissa, & Yon to be incredibly kind, considerate, and supportive each and every day, and I'm forever grateful for their sagacious counsel and thoughtful group discussions. They also offer weekly evening Zoom meetings for both PHP alumni and DBT with Emily.
Would give 0 stars if I could. Arbour Counseling Services is not helpful, only hurtful. My sister, who has struggled with severe social anxiety, depression, and substance abuse since her teens, finally decided for the first time in her life to seek out help. She got into Arbour Counseling Service’s day program in Jamaica Plain, and was so optimistic. She was excited to be getting better, was proud of herself for putting in the work, and was improving every day. That was until Arbour Counseling Services kicked her out because they said she was “sniffing drugs” in the restroom. They said they knew she was because she went to the restroom often. They also know that she has severe social anxiety, and she would bring herself to the restroom when she was feeling overwhelmed to calm herself down, not to “sniff drugs”. Also, Arbour Counseling Services would know she is not “sniffing drugs” because they drug test her twice a week and the only thing she ever tested positive for was marijuana, which is legal in Massachusetts. Arbour Counseling Services took a woman who was struggling, and instead of helping, they humiliated, judged, and shamed her. I know that my sister is strong and committed, and she will continue to get better without the help of Arbour Counseling Services. However, Arbour Counseling Services should be ashamed of themselves. It my sister had relapsed and gotten back on drugs, that would be on you, Arbour Counseling Services. If she had killed herself because the one time she sought help she was turned away, that would be on you, Arbour Counseling Services. If you are looking for kind, understanding, and helpful not hurtful people, do not go to Arbour Counseling Services in Jamaica Plain.
I definitely would recommend it here I see Dr Scott he's a great therapist I've actually had another therapist here a few years ago and they were pretty good too.
Most of the counseling staff are quite good. Day program for mental health was good also. Psychiatrists have been good in my experience, as long as you are an informed patient who can advocate for yourself. The receptionists, scheduling, and billing departments have been much better than at the present practice that I attended.
The level of professionalism displayed by the intake staff here wouldn’t be accepted at a McDonald’s. Half the time you walk in and they have to finish gossiping and stuffing their faces before they acknowledge you are waiting. They are rude and disgusting slobs who have no business in a patient care environment. If you are able to get past their complete lack of etiquette and customer service skills, you then need to deal with being booked for appointments when your doctor isn’t even working. I have only worked with one psychiatrist there and would not Be surprised if he was the one responsible for hiring the incompetatent staff. He has messed up my prescriptions several times resulting in wasted time and money going to the pharmacy only to be told they cannot fill the script. His appointments when you are actually able to secure one are a joke. Up to 15 people go in and out of his office within thirty minutes or less. It’s clear that the only thing he is doing is writing scripts. You would think he could get that right but apparently not. It is a shame because my therapist at this location was professional, compassionate and extremely helpful. Unfortunately she was a diamond in a pile of dung. I’m not sure if budget problems keep this office from hiring competent staff or if they just don’t care. Either way, they would do themselves a favor by cleaning house and hiring a staff worthy of their chosen profession.
I'm not sure who the people who gave negative reviews saw, but I disagree %100. Additionally, I don't believe that the center had employees write positive reviews. The staff has so many patients that it's not necessary. In fact, the clinicians are so overworked that I'm sure they could thrive minus a few hundred of us. With that being said, I'm a young professional with challenging issues. These issues interrupt my job, school, and all of my relationships. Basically, I'm just trying to get by. Jonathan, Dr. Aggressor, and the entire staff have worked tirelessly to keep me from drowning. In fact, I honestly don't think I'd be alive without them. In addition to this, everyone's caseload is barely manageable, still, they make time for me. If I need something, Jonathan will get it done. Dr. Aggressor will squeeze in an appointment whenever I need one, or another Dr. will step in. I live in New Hampshire and drive over an hour to see them. I could transfer, and make my commute shorter, but I honestly trust the people who treat me, and don't want to see anyone else. Please keep in mind when reviewing your Dr. or therapist that these people are trying to help you, and are extremely stressed themselves from trying to help all of their clients. Jonathan and Dr. Aggressor are my support system. Without them I'd be lost. Their jobs are thankless and I think they deserve so much more recognition than they receive. Everyone does. Everyone that works there plays a role in my experience, and the improvement of my well-being. So thanks everyone at Jamaica Plain Arbour, I'm extremely grateful to have such an amazing support network.
Had an appointment with my therapist today, afterward I wanted to schedule an appointment to see another doctor. I say to the receptionist whom I want to see, as another ignorant employee continues to have a full blown conversation with the receptionist. Who should have had the professionalism to say I have to take care of this person waiting to make an appointment. Very simple minded, arrogant, with not one ounce of compassion! This will never happen to me again I swear.
I visited the partial hospitalization program, and this place was disgusting: dirty bathrooms, stained carpets that haven't been cleaned in ages or ever?, dated decor, small space. They kept us in one room from 9 am to 3 pm, all just lectures and group talk, no group activities, no team building, no mental stimulation, nothing. The poor excuse of a lunch they provided was unhealthy, packaged food loaded with carbs and sodium. By far, the worst thing about this facility was the staff. There is no doctor on staff, just a nurse. Except for one staff member, Rebecca who was really sweet, all the rest of the staff were dismissive of us and cut us off, even when they asked for our input. One client was feeling particularly anxious, and when another client gave him a consensual touch and offered to file his nails to help him relax, the staff member exploded and claimed that if he did his nails, he would have to do everybody's nails. When the class said that isn't true, she said if we didn't like it, we could go somewhere else. No mental health practitioner should lose her cool like that. After that incident, several of us decided to never come back.
i went here for in patient partial day program. consists of 3 different group leaders. i enjoyed the counseling excercises which included writing and verbalizing and identifying problems. i then went into therapy with psychologist and psychiatrist. there was one group counselor who is supposed to play the role as the tough one but is fun after all and likes apple cider vinegar. this is a good service for the community. i was afraid that we would be in hospital gowns. the food wasn't bad at all just bring your own or buy a coconut bar down the street. i liked some people who were in counseling here.
Iv successfully been in outpatient suboxone therapy for 12- going on 13years and it’s truly changed my life and I would not be where I am , happy with the normal things I thought I’d never have or be as a person and I and if I couldn’t go to the groups and one on one with my doctor and councilor who are truly amazing and actually care for the paitients that truly want to get clean.. and then work on changing themselfs ...really wanted to credit the program and dr s & councilors in arbour bcus every day they deal with people who are broken and sick and prob not pleasant and that could not be easy and takes special type of patients so thank you to all of arbors ,doctors ,counselors & psychiatrists n theripiest there.. especially Dr. Migeed...Brian & Vanessa I wouldnt be where I am without you all to help my grow over the many years so thanks
