About

The five pillars of service:

• Public Service

• Advocacy

• Education

• Technology

• Membership

Description

ARRL is the national association for Amateur Radio in the US. Founded in 1914 by Hiram Percy Maxim as The American Radio Relay League, ARRL is a noncommercial organization of radio amateurs. ARRL numbers within its ranks the vast majority of active radio amateurs in the nation and has a proud history of achievement as the standard-bearer in amateur affairs. ARRL’s underpinnings as Amateur Radio’s witness, partner and forum are defined by five pillars: Public Service, Advocacy, Education, Technology, and Membership.

A bona fide interest in Amateur Radio is the only essential qualification of membership; an Amateur Radio license is not a prerequisite, although full voting membership is granted only to licensed radio amateurs in the US.

ARRL's Vision Statement

As the national association for Amateur Radio in the United States, ARRL:

- Supports the awareness and growth of Amateur Radio worldwide;
- Advocates for meaningful access to radio spectrum;
- Strives for every member to get involved, get active, and get on the air;
- Encourages radio experimentation and, through its members, advances radio technology and education; and
- Organizes and trains volunteers to serve their communities by providing public service and emergency communications.

Mission

"To advance the art, science, and enjoyment of Amateur Radio."

The Mecca of Amateur Radio. Every Ham should make the trip to visit the organization that does so much to promote the hobby. Getting on the air and working under the W1AW callsign is a real honor.
It's the mothership of amateur radio. If you have any interest in radio whatsoever, you need to do the tour. I've been a member for years and the ARRL really believes in generating interest in the hobby. A tour of the building and of course W1AW is a must to any person that loves the magic of throwing a wire in a tree and talking to a new friend 1000's of miles away.
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. I was cool just being there.
This was a really fun stop on my journey around the northeast. I'm a ham radio operator, and for anyone that has their license it's a great time. They allow you to operate their equipment. You'll get a tour of the facility. The staff were really nice and knowledgeable. Great time!
Post office lost my license renewal called and we took care of it via email . I am a life member of the ARRL and have been since ‘06 . Lisa R in member services was awesome .
It's good. Place to visit and tour. If you have you ham ticket you may have a chance to operate w1aw station if they are not doing code practice or bulletins.
I had the most interesting tour of the headquarters and museum. got to use the w1aw station. well worth the visit. the volunteer tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable.
Not a HAM my husband is and it was a very informative tour. I pay attention enough to understand what was being talked about. Marc was a very good tour guide. The radio shack was pretty amazing, too.
The HQ for Ham Radio - a must visit
Thank you for doing what you do. The tour is great and very detailed. Marc seemed to really enjoy giving tours to ARRL members. Schedule time to work the AMAZING stations at W1AW.
