Dr. Artemio A. Perez, DO, AOBFP, CAQSM
Dr. Perez is a 2005 graduate of the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. After graduating from medical school he began his residency training in Family Practice at Peninsula Hospital Center in New York City in the Borough of Queens. During his time in residency training Dr. Perez was recognized by the hospital for excellence in critical care in 2007. In addition he also served as Chief Resident for Family Practice from 2007 – 2008.
After completing his residency training in Family Practice in 2008, Dr. Perez began his fellowship training in Primary Care Sports Medicine at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ which is a major affiliate of Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Dr. Perez provided medical coverage for various sports at the local high school and collegiate level during his fellowship training. This included being a Team Physician for Kean University, Millburn High School, Cranford High School, and Arthur L. Johnson High School in Clark, NJ. In addition his fellowship training also included working closely with various orthopedic surgeons and musculoskeletal specialists some of which were team physicians for local NFL and NBA teams. He has also provided volunteer medical coverage for the Livestrong Cycling Challenge by Lance Armstrong in Philadelphia (2007) and various 5K races throughout Northern New Jersey. In addition when he was living in California he has served as the Team Physician for Clayton Valley High School and Northgate High School. He was a medical consultant for Mills College and St. Mary’s College as well.
Dr. Perez also served as the Medical Director of the Concussion Program at the Center for Sports Medicine of St. Francis Memorial Hospital in San Francisco, California which is nationally known for its excellence and pioneering work in the field of Sports Medicine. He also served as Co-Medical Director of the Center for Sports Medicine of St. Francis Memorial Hospital at its ambulatory Sports Medicine Clinic in Walnut Creek, California.
Dr. Perez is board certified in Sports Medicine, Family Practice, and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine. In many cases he utilizes osteopathic manipulative medicine to help treat various musculoskeletal disorders by enhancing the patient’s capacity to heal at a faster rate. In addition he also treats concussions, muscle imbalances, and sport related athletic trauma.
A native to New Jersey, Dr. Perez loves the Jersey shore line & trail hiking. He is an avid weight lifter, jogger, and is also involved with Pilates. Dr. Perez and Dr. Russonella have known each other for over 20 years. They envisioned many years ago of working together to create a comprehensive medical practice of Sports Medicine. After years of hard work, circumstances have finally permitted them to join forces and work together to provide a comprehensive approach to their Sports Medicine patient population.
