I typically spend about 50-60$ on a few items here10 doubles ,3 roti and the salt fish and roti or bake I haven’t tried ox tail yet but I’ll be back for it .. and definitely worth it but slacking on flavor last time I was there but the pepper sauce is bomb and the tamarin sauce very flavor ful and with the nice Achar to the mix that’s sold Separately is perfect spot to eat every time I’m passing by as a trucker I come here often and enjoy it every time
My husband is from the VI. Says the goat rotis are THEE best in the Houston area so far. I like to order a "double". Highly recommend. Outdoor seating only but it's not really aimed for sitting long, i guess. I recommend calling ahead so you don't wait on the parking lot about 15-25 minutes for your food. The people are always nice.Food: 4/5
On Saturday January 28,2023. I had the opportunity to visit and try out some delicious food from Asha’s for the first time. I did as recommended from some reviews and the website by calling in my order. I ordered some doubles with and out hot/spicy sauce or pepper sauce for those that know Trini ting. To my surprise the lady on the phone asked if I’d like “tamarind sauce?” That was and immediate yes. I then ordered two oxtails, one with steamed vegetables and one with curry potatoes no plantains were available yet. The person from Asha’s recommended a 15mins pickup time. Well I got to shop before the time given and it was a good thing. I had a NOSTALGIC feeling right away. Like I was in TnT. I was the lone customer all 5 parking spaces to myself for the closing. I did park and I walked straight up to the order window. To my surprise there was more in the shop to see to my delight than on the menu. I was like a kid at the candy shop. By the time I made my order the next customer arrived and asked, “Did you leave anything?” Long story cut short recommendations and feedback. PROS: Call and order first before noon Get that doubles with the tamarind and pepper sauce. The OXTAIL and PELAU rice and beans was HEAVENLY….. I would suggest washing it down with sorrel juice. Additional parking in the lot next door Seating best for dry conditions Food is HOT and freshly prepared Reach the time they recommend specifically if you’re hungry or in a rush Value for money CONS: Doubles was a tad salty and not huge but very tasty Don’t go to seat and eat in wet or cold weather Summary Everyone home loved the food and we can’t wait to get OXTAILS again and try other things on their menu
Everything I tried was really good! I got a roti with chana and potato, the roti had a great texture and taste, beef patties and fish & bake.. I tried to order doubles, but they were sold out.. and they forgot to put my pepper sauce in the bag..I drove 45 min to get here and it was definitely worth the drive..love Trini food! Service was friendly too.. next time I'm coming as soon as they open to make sure I get some doubles!
What happen to the quality of the food here!!! No taste and what is this brown sauce was suppose to be hot pepper, it was sweet without the heat!!! Is it a new cook or ownership???
Ox tail had no meat, just fat and greasy. Salad was hot and soggy from being put in same container with greasy oily oxtail bones sitting on top of the most disgusting rice mixture, $20 dollars and I left a tipSMH
It would be 5stars but I came to order my food I like goat I like wild game the lady that was preparing it was making funny comments and laughing I guess because she dont eat goat But why taint my food with bad vibes I ordered the goat and I don't care if she don't like it control your mouth and face then I asked how is the mauby to the man but The lady in front said if you want to live like I want to live the thing is packed full of sugar because I'm fat she telling me things like I don't need Mauby because it's going to be bad for my health when my dietitian advised me to drink Mauby and Surreal so I just asked how's the mauby I wanted to know if it was fresh actually and when she made that comment I just didn't order it but it bothered me I'm not just fat I have a heart problem so therefore people that has issues that they were born with swell up you could tell the difference if you poke them solid is fat soft fat people it's fluid so my dietitian and doctor recommended me to have surreal and Mau by those ladies were so ugly I thought about walking away but the men were very compassionate and gave them the look as if to say stop it the food is good but those women need to control themselves because if I protest against then they'll get less business but because of the food and the men that were very courteous I'll be back again and you should go too Order the drink Mauby It's good for you despite what she says I ask how's mauby I just want to know if it's fresh or if it's been there a few days I don't need anybody else's advice I am very much educated in my own culture but don't let that or them females stop you the food it delicious but who ever did the goat did not do it properly like they do in Barrett station Texas I guess because they don't eat it and is more healthy than oxtails which are good but I hope they cut back on the Sweet sugar but it was still worth the $17 for a dinner plate Delicious onspite of buthopefully next time with less female attitude but more Alpha Male courtesy and Respect Thank you
I haven’t had a shrimp roti since I lived in New York City! I was happy to experience this place right here in Baytown! It was delicious thank you!
Very good Caribbean spot, and everything seems made to order. The staff is friendly, the portions were big, and the food tasted good. Most Caribbean restaurants have a Jamaican focus, while this one has a Trinidadian focus, which is a nice change, and why Roti is in the name. Also, the Tamarind and pepper sauces were good as well. However, just know that there isn't any indoor seating, and limited outdoor seating, so To go is probably the best option. Will visit again.
I've been waiting for a roti shop from Trinidad and Tobago and apparently this place has been here for years. Roti , in short is a wrap, done the island way , with Carribbean and Indian fusion of delicious food, wrapped around different kinds of curry meats. It's delicious !! They have a whole variety of meals done in the "West Indian " Carribbean way. Its not a dine in restaurant, but more of a take out, with the option of eating right there at a bench , where you can sit and enjoy the meal in the outside environment, I must say frankly they are the best staff around. Kind, courteous , and excellent cooks. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
