AU AHS affirms the following basic convictions:
A measured pride in the success of the American experiment; America’s greatness is a result of its founding principles, including but not limited to rule of law, natural rights, and limited government;
A conviction in the importance of American leadership in the world;
An appreciation for the need for prudent exercise of American power;
A recognition of the strength of international partnerships built on the shared basic principles of democracy and the rule of law;
A firm belief in the importance of vigorous public discussion to the American political system.
