The Ashwaubenon Historical Society began as a committee of individuals who realized that preserving a community's past would provide a path for the future. It was established as a private non-profit organization in 1971 & incorporated in 1976. Its first home was two former classrooms at Cormier School, the first public school in Ashwaubenon founded in 1872. It moved to its present location & opened the Museum in 2001.
The Museum is staffed by volunteers who also create the exhibits. The Museum collection features a well-known exhibit of "Tramp & Hobo" art, created & collected by area native, Adolph Vandertie
