Cheers for Children at Children's Medical Center was establish 1967. A gift cart staffed by members is taken directly to the patient's room. The patient may select a gift free of charge - a book, artwork, craft, or puzzle.
Operation School Bell furnishes new clothing for elementary age needy children identified by school personnel. Children exhibit improved self esteem, increased attendance, learning skills and concentration. More than 300 children have been served annually in Dallas Independent School District.
Hand in Hand was established 1991 at Dallas Children's Advocacy Center. Assistance League members creat an atmosphere of warmth and friendliness for victims of child abuse before and after counseling session. Volunteers furnish and supervise playroom activities and assist needs of the Center's staff, clients and families.
Pegasus Auxiliary was established 1994 and meets in the evenings and weekends to serve working members. Assault Survivor Kits is a program staffed by Pegasus. When sexual assault victims are admitted and treated by medical personnel, their clothing is retained as evidence of criminal investigation. Pegasus provides around 200 Survivor Kits containing a change of clothing and toiletries to Hospitals. In addition they make Pillows for Dallas Children's Medical Center, provide hygiene kits for Operation School Bell and help fund Operation Bell and Cheers for Children Programs.
