New owners (and lifelong island residents) Barb & Allen Hovsepian are passionate about continuing Au Courant's legacy. Au Courant has a long-standing 40-year history on Mercer Island. Founded in 1969 by current Au Courant stylist Ray Noble, the salon was originally dubbed "The Apartment" for its location at the Tamarack Village Apartments. The salon became "Au Courant" (which means "Of the Moment') in 1976 and moved to its current location in 1986. Owners Barb and Allen Hovsepian purchased the business in early 2010 both to preserve the Mercer Island icon and fulfill Barb's ultimate dream to own and operate a world-class beauty and barber salon.
