We offer Bachelor of Arts degrees in history and anthropology, with a challenging curriculum that prepares students for success in graduate schools or in a variety of careers, most notably in the areas of teaching, law, journalism, and administration. We also offer a Bachelor of Arts degree in history with certification in secondary education for students interested in teaching high school. We offer minors in Anthropology and Philosophy as well as History. Our faculty provide a wide range of expertise with specializations that include the culture of Africa, African- American history, medieval and early modern Britain, history and ethics of of medicine, British Commonwealth, the history of the Islamic world, American colonial and Revolutionary history, Latin American history, Russian history, the history of the Southern U.S., historical archaeology, and Ethical Philosophy, as well as particular strengths in cultural history, military history, and historical and anthropological aspects of women and gender studies. We are at August University [HAP dept.], formerly known as Georgia Regents University, Augusta State University, and Augusta College.
