An institution of learning where the art and craft of auto customizing and restoration can be shared through displays and classes!
It is no secret that Long Island loves cars. It is home to more commuters, car clubs and classic and custom cars than any place in America. The Autoseum’s goal is to inform and educate the citizens of Long Island (particularly its youngest citizens) about the history, the industry, the craft and most of all, the people who make this culture of cars a reality.
The Autoseum is the brainchild of two men: Mike Manning and Andy Perillo. Manning and Perillo’s vision for the Autoseum is for it to function as a teaching museum. On permanent display will be some of George Barris’ most famous designs (such as one of the original Batmobile, Aston Martin DB5 from Goldfinger and the Drag-U-La from TV’s Munsters). The Autoseum will also feature regular classes and workshops demonstrating highly specialized equipment and techniques.
Our goal is to have revolving exhibit spaces which will showcase the work of other designers from across Long Island and the country at large. In addition, we also plan to feature a fully functional auto shop, with picture windows to let patrons see every step of the customization process first hand. The garage will employ a rotating staff of interns and apprentices from schools and colleges as well as past students, from across Long Island.
We are working on expanding our offerings to include car club meeting space, event hosting, regular cruise nights, a parts store, swap meets, car shows and many new classes.
With the support of the community the Autoseum is bound to become a premier institution on Long Island for entertainment, education and community service.
The Autoseum is an institution of learning where we teach the craftsmanship involved in the creation of some of the world’s most famous movie cars, and the restoration skills needed to preserve all types of vehicles.
These classes will be open to all generations of car enthusiasts, focusing on the youth of Long Island, from all walks of life.
The museum is also home to many of the world’s most famous cars, as well as other unique cars created by the public. It is a place where these great vehicles can be shared with the world in one location, helping preserve this great art form, keeping it alive and evolving for many generations!
We offer access to some of the worlds greatest movie cars as well as classes that can teach you the skills to make your own custom car.
