168 hours of nursing is what our insurance company approved for pediatric PDN services. We have never received all of it, and this was before covid. During covid, Aveanna had zero procedures in place to ensure the safety of its clients in regards to testing of their nurses or even vaccination after it was required in every other healthcare setting. Incompetent nursing is the norm verses rare. They have nurses who are not using their licensure names, we aren't given background information including offenses if we ask for them. They routinely ignore you until they need you for signatures. The state of Texas has the most pediatric deaths associated with nursing accidents and Aveanna is at the top of the list. The good nurses are over extended and harrassed to take cases when they all ready have steady patients, and they are severely underpaid. Communication is the heart of the problem with this company, and we recently lost all of our PDN because of it-- failure to turn in documents in a timely manner. Instead of accepting responsibility, each person in that office blamed someone else. Leaving is futile because until the states and the federal government makes changes, Aveanna will continue its reign of terror.
I work for Aveanna in AZ. I started with Option 1, that was then bought out by Epic, and then Aveanna. I love Aveanna. The feel of the work environment has improved so much and it’s wonderful to see how much compassion and care that they have for their patients and their staff.
The staff was helpful in determining what our insurance covered in terms of getting a home health nurse for our newborn son who had just come home from an 85 day NICU stay. After weeks of back and forth with the insurance we were finally approved for a home health nurse. We were told we would be able to have a nurse come to our home within the week of approval from insurance. However 2 days after getting approved by insurance, Aveanna called and said they won't have nurses to staff our situation and we need to find another agency. Mind you we had reached out to other agencies at first but Aveanna was the quickest to respond so we went with them and didn't follow through with the other agencies. I had also even spoken with a staff member who works on staffing nurses in order to try and figure out what type of nurses would be best for us. At no point it didn't cross anyone's mind to tell us there is a shortage of nurses??? Because now we have to start back from scratch with other companies that hopefully don't have the same issues. We wasted 3-4 weeks where my wife, myself, and most importantly my sick newborn child could have gotten help. Edit:. It was actually a misunderstanding and Aveanna was worked with us after I placed this review to help us in our situation.
Aveanna is a careless agency neglecting the fact that medication was under given over given and not given and nursing errors were made. They failed to keep my son properly staffed especially during time of sickness or returning home from a hospital stay. I told them not to send back the nurses that were making medical errors with my son's medication. I also mentioned that any LPN or RN be properly trained on individual needs of patients. Making sure that clinical competencies and skills were adequately addressed as well as training on how to operate all of machines correctly and clean them. They failed on multiple occasions to return phone calls about questions and concerns.
Aveanna paired my two boys with autism with a wonderful CNA, Hannah. Being a healthcare worker/essential employee myself, I wouldn’t have been able to have gone to work and gotten through the pandemic without her. She gets along with and attends to all of my boys needs; the needs of two very difficult children to get along with and care for at times. She has become like family to them. Thank you.
This place is in serious need of communication skills. We LOVED all of the nurses we had, WHEN they showed up, and it wasn’t their fault, the schedulers in the offices have no clue what they’re doing, I’ve been told I would have people and then no one shows up and then they tell me “oops, we forgot to schedule someone”. My son had to be on 24 hour watch and we were up for 48 hours straight because they didn’t schedule people right. The nurses here are absolutely amazing and it’s such a shame because they deserve so much better. There is ZERO communication with this company, and that made it the worst experience. They said they called people when someone would call out and I know for a fact they didn’t when talking to the nurses. And they wouldn’t tell me someone called out until I HAD TO CALL because no one showed up. All around unprofessional in the offices, but the nurses are absolutely wonderful.
This company is a NIGHTMARE. I have been trying to work with them for the last year. The office is not following protocols and nobody there has any idea how to run a company. As the mother of a patient I strongly believe this office needs to be shut down. I've been blatantly lied to many times over nursing schedules. I've had the most unqualified, untrained nurses. The nurses come and go at any time they want. We have had nurses who can't follow simple doctor's orders, nurses who actually caused physical harm to my son and made him bleed very badly yes I have photos, nurses that showed up sick, and nurses that sleep on the job ALL OF THE TIME. Please for the safety of your child DO NOT choose aveanna / Epic Nursing.
The north side office is horrible. They don’t provide nurses and they don’t care if you have one. They are rude and a worker named Erika talks down on you and tries to belittle you as a person. A nurse what hitting my special needs son with a metal pole that she took of his bed and they are allowing the nurse to still work. I been with the company for 3 years, 2 at the south office. The south office is great but if you like near the north office rethink this company cause the customer service is HORRIBLE.
As the mom of 3 patients, has this place has been a nightmare. We are not getting staffed despite critical need. They are putting my kids with ventilators and gj-tubes and seizures and oxygen at the lowest staffing levels. They will not listen to me or my concerns. And they are lying to me. This place is awful. It has gone seriously down in the past year. And they are not paying the nurses, cutting their salaries, and being awful to them. AVOID!
Long story short an employee Entered a code wrong for my son's food which is the only way he eats so therefore my son did not get his medical supplies because their company messed up and told me they didn't know what to do and wanted cash for me instead of rebuilding my insurance which they said they couldn't do poor customer service horrible customer service the employees need training a lot of training for medical field
