Avellino

Description

Every great meal begins with an inspired menu, the highest quality ingredients, and a talented chef. Ultimately, though, it encompasses so much more—the sharing of conversation and tradition with family and friends, embracing the spirit of discovery and adventure, celebrating milestones and memories. Here at Avellino, the dining experience extends even further—beyond the table and into our open kitchen, where the interplay between Chef Rico Giovanello and his guests brings yet another facet to the meal.
Avellino’s story originates in a small village in Italy, and continues here today in our small New England town. Adelegita Giovanello, known by everyone as Gita, brings her young grandson Rico into her kitchen and teaches him the basics of Italian cooking. One of Rico’s first memories, back when he was just tall enough to reach the stove, is listening to the hot sear of sautéing mushrooms, smelling their earthy aroma, and watching the steam rise from the pan. This seemingly ordinary, everyday experience with his grandmother sparked a lifelong passion for cooking.
Gita shared with Rico not only the gastronomic traditions of her culture, but also instilled in him a desire to experiment with new ingredients and techniques. The menu at Avellino espouses this philosophy of sharing creative cuisine bred from a rich tradition of culinary excellence. As an Italian village celebrates its individual cheese, or its tomatoes, or its prosciutto, we at Avellino also take pride in our surroundings, using local ingredients whenever possible and making as much as we can by hand.
An enduring passion for excellence is imbued in all of Rico’s endeavors—his inventive, seasonal menu planning, the care he takes in ensuring that his fresh pasta and sauces are perfectly paired, and his desire to share these pleasures with his guests, night after night.
From grandmother to grandson, neighbor to neighbor, family to friends, chef to guest—sit, eat, share, laugh, learn, experiment, enjoy. Celebrate.

If I could rate higher I would! I planned a bridal shower this past Saturday at Avellinos, everything was perfect. I’m not easy to work with and Dan and his staff blew me out the water with how accommodating and professional they were. The event excelled my expectations because of the staff. Dan thank you so much for being so kind and easy to work with. The bartender Rachel was phenomenal to say the least. To top it off the food was amazing, every guest raved about the teriyaki salmon and crab cakes! Thank you again Avellino’s I will be back to have more parties!
I’ve been eating here weekly sometimes 2 or 3 times for lunch for almost a year now. I absolutely love it and recommend to everyone. They have daily lunch specials that are filling, good, and extremely affordable. Regular menu items are also amazing. Service is excellent and food is quick to the table. I’m very happy i found this restaurant.
We held our rehearsal dinner at Avellino and are so glad we did! During the planning process, the staff was extremely helpful. They were so easy to work with and were very responsive answering all our questions. They were also flexible, as we did not know the exact time we would arrive from our rehearsal. On the night of the rehearsal dinner the staff was incredible! They made sure everyone's need were taken care of. They were so personable, introducing themselves to us and ensuring us that if we needed anything, we just needed to ask! We decided to give a speech to our family, friends and bridal parties and they were extremely flexible. We were able to work with them on the fly to determine when the timing would be best for this. During our speech, the waitstaff closed the doors to ensure the sound coming from the restaurant would not interfere with our moment. They also respected this moment and did not try to serve or clear during this time. Something we so greatly appreciated. Not only was the waitstaff amazing, but the food was INCREDIBLE! Our guests could not stop raving about the food, from the apps to the entrees to the desserts. It was the perfect setting to kick off our wedding celebrations and the staff was great to work with. If you are planning small event and looking for a place to do it - we highly recommend Avellino!
Went for the birthday party of a one year old. Maybe thirty people total. They did a great job keeping us full of food and drink without actually getting in the way. Was a fun experience. Food was very good. Classy dining experience.Food: 5/5
Very good chicken marsala and lamb last night. Old world decor, and quite pleasant. Small dining rooms. Very kind waitress. Very good value.Dine in: YesTakeout: Yes
The atmosphere is gorgeous. The service was spectacular. Nicole was great. And the food, very rich and a special treat. Glad we came. Vegetarian options: Wish there was more available. I ordered a shrimp dish. But the kitchen would have likely been willing to oblige.
I wanted to go try this place out since my daughter and her boyfriend go there very often and they love it. Unfortunately I can't say the same since our server wasn't too welcoming. I made reservations for my husband's birthday last night and I was so disappointed. The food was tasteless and it looked like the server was bothered with us being there. The wine was good though‍We still gave him a good tip, but, I'll never return.
Delicious dinner for four. Excellent service, lovely ambiance, beautiful colonial building and interior decor, good value. Features: Plenty of space inside
Ordered the Pappardelle Bolognese, Pasta was over cooked and sauce was very bland no flavor was basically tomato sauce with few pieces of hamburger. Bread was good after we asked 3 times for it. Drinks were very good though!Food: 1/5
