This was the most horrific experience I have had. If I could give a zero, I would. Please believe these reviews. If you are a person who are used to things clean and in order, RUN!!!! Lets just start with the fact that my leasing agent Jasmin had the most nastiest and careless attitude ever which should have been a red flag for me. I called the office over and over to receive updates and the only time I received a call was her telling me 1 week before indicating they did not have the unit for me. She proceeded to NOT offer me any options until I asked and mysteriously a unit came up that I could move in. Get to the office to review that unit two days before my move in day and she ignored the fact that we had even entered the office. No greeting, just a very nasty attitude not addressing why we were even there. We get to the unit, it smelled like bombs, wet carpet, and all the cabinets where open in the kitchen. The countertops were burnt and the laundry closet door was GONE! The washer/dryer was not connected and all she did was blame maintenance for not completing work orders. Lastly, the closet with the water heater was accidentally left unlocked and I opened it to a hole where I could see outside, a mouse trap with all types of bugs and dirt/dust that look like it had been there for years!!!!!! To defend this disgusting site, she stated that it was supposed to be locked and the hole will be patched. This is definitely false advertisement and I cancelled my application. I do not understand how these folks can hire such nasty people and offer such a horrible living environment. I never do reviews but trying to save a family if I could!!!
I lived here for just over two years, and I have to say it was the absolute worst renting experience that I’ve ever had. From the time that we moved in to the time that we moved out, we had constant roach infestation, problems, mice infestation problems, and work orders that took literal months to get fixed. We talked to the office multiple times and they sent pest control in multiple times, yet all they did was placed on a few glue traps despite our begging for them to fumigate the entire apartment. I had to sleep with headphones in because I didn’t want to listen to the mice running around my room at night, I would be surprised if I had mice running on my bed as I slept in all honesty. The area itself is horrific, there were multiple times where a shooting happened around our apartment. There was even an incident where a man was murdered at the playground one night and I’m pretty sure they never switched out the mulch. According to some police officers investigating one of our neighbors, there was a brothel being run out of another apartment on our floor allegedly. There are no locks on any of the main entrances to the apartment buildings so anybody can walk in at any time and do whatever they want, which they will. The apartments are not properly sealed so all of our heating and A/C leaked out at all times of the year. The finish they put on the shelving in the cabinets in the kitchen wears off so much that you will find pieces of paint fused with your dishware. The walls are so thin that you can hear your neighbors having private phone calls in a low voice at all times of day. This problem gets even worse when the annoying neighbors are blasting music long into the night 1am. The garbage collecting situation is horrific sense if you don’t get your trash into the big collection bin within a day of it being emptied by the county, you’ll have absolutely no where to put it because the whole bin will be OVERFLOWING with trash to the point where I have seen people just walk up and drop their trash bags on the asphalt nearby. The parking sucks. The rent is way to high for the location, maintenance quality, and safety concerns. And finally, despite our being model tenants for over two years, they decided to keep our security deposit for absolute bogus reasons. The only saving grace this place has is Nina Sanchez. She did her absolute best to address our concerns when we came to her. But I suspect she was limited in what she could actually do because I don’t think the staff get any kind of support from upper management. But despite that, Nina was still awesome and the only reason we were able to bear this place at all. We threw a party in our new apartment after we moved just to celebrate moving out of Avery Park. This place is not worth the money or the stress. If I could leave a negative score I would do so. If I ever walk back onto this property, Hell will have frozen over.
Agree with the others. Communication is dreadful....my lease was "approved" but getting in contact with anyone from the leasing office is almost impossible to sign paperwork. Unfortunately I am on a tight time deadline. Update: took a while and took being persistent but things did work out. Barely. Leasing agent was friendly and apologetic. Will continue to update review with my experience. Update 2: Dishwasher and washing machine were not working when moved it. Washing machine fixed, hopefully, and just noticed issues with dishwasher. Update 3: DO NOT COME HERE. So I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. We have been here for about a month now. There are mice and roaches in the apartments which we have handled ourselves. We have put in a total of 12 maintenance requests since we have moved in. I will say the maintenance people are friendly and professional. Parking is a huge issue, there isn't enough space. Visitors overnight must park in certain areas and you must pay through an app. Problem is the app will continue to charge you even after the hours you need to pay. Total scam. THE KICKER. Our contract says rent is due on the 1st but isn't late until the 5th. Today is the 2nd and we just got a 30 day notice to vacate. I intend to do so and hire a lawyer.
UPDATE: In case anyone was wondering, they in fact never contacted us in response to this review and we are still out the money they auto charged for the "holding" fee. DON'T RENT HERE. I made the mistake of being willing to give this place a shot despite reading some of the reviews here. Initially the leasing office was pleasant, all parties signed the lease seamlessly a month prior to our move in date... Then they didn't answer our calls OR emails for a full week. It wasn't until I got fed up and left a voicemail at Morgan Properties their large property management company that I finally got a call back the next day telling us that the original tenants were no longer leaving, the lease we signed and payments we made meant nothing and offered us a MORE EXPENSIVE unit. To make things worse, when I asked for written documentation that our lease was no longer valid in order to avoid later fall out the leasing staff became clearly irritated by this request, acting as though it was crazy on my part to even want that security. In addition to all this, after initially paying the application fees they had AUTO CHARGED our card a holding fee with no notification - but REFUSED to return this holding fee despite the fact that they screwed us out of our apartment after all parties had signed the lease. Super sketchy, unprofessional, and honestly a blessing in disguise that we will NOT be living here.
Jaleesa was amazing during my tour. She was very knowledgeable and she went above and beyond to assist us in understanding the apartment and it's lease. Undoubtably the best leasing manager out there.
They’ll tow your car faster than they come to do repairs. Washer hasn’t been working for weeks but they towed my rental car with no hesitation. There’s two offices here; the leasing office and the people you deal with after you sign your lease. The people you deal with before you sign your lease are so attentive to your needs and so kind. The people you deal with after are very rude and dismissive. Someone was killed on the playground and they didn’t even switch out the mulch so those kids are playing in….. ew. The place is infested with roaches and mice. It’s not a safe environment to raise kids period. There’s no working lock on the building door meaning anybody could walk up and knock on your door at anytime. Don’t waste your money here. You can’t pay the rent before it’s due either but they’re not going to inform you of that though. Quick update. Since I’ve wrote this review my car has been towed a total of three times as retaliation for my negative review of this place. Parking pass in the window and all. Still got towed.
Avoid living here. The property management company doesn't care about you and just want to lock you in the lease. There has been a leak in my builds hallway since I moved in and they said they would fix it asap. 5 months later they now want to fix it and will enter your home with no notice claiming it is an emergency repair... Everything that was reported when I first moved in that needed to be repaired I was told the items were already ordered today I learned nothing was. There many other small things but it all comes back to the fact they really don't seem to care while acting like they do. I feel bad for the people who work for this company that care because their efforts have been meaningless.
Updated Review: Its been 7 months that I have now lived here, you can find my original review below this updated one. To begin, there are definitely mice. My cat caught two inside my apartment. There are also roaches, I saw one on my stove. There’s never just one. Be aware of that when leasing an apartment here. Additionally, there is no visitor parking which has been a pain. It’s hard to have guest stay over. Even trying to park in the designated “visitor parking” spaces by the leasing office has been annoying. There are never any available spaces ! Oh and not to mention you have to pay for guest to even park. Maintenance is also a pain to deal with. All maintenance request have to be put in to the residence portal but the work orders are never taken care of. It took them nearly a week to come and fix my washing machine. I called the leasing office and they were no help. They said I had to reach out to Resident Services who again was no help. They pretty much told me that my maintenance request was not important enough for them to come out and look at it. The walls are completely paper thin. I can hear my neighbors next-door having an entire conversation inside of my apartment. It is ridiculous. Please be aware of these things when applying for an apartment here. I personally pay over $2000 a month and for the amount of money that I am spending, I could have gotten a luxury apartment and not had to do with any of this stuff. To me, this apartment is not worth all the money that you will pay to live here. I am now giving this apartment a one star, I am looking forward to moving and finding a better apartment because this is not it. ***Original review: I have been living at the property since Nov 2022, so far I haven’t had any issues with roaches or mice but that could change. The apartment is spacious, which is great. The leasing office workers were very helpful during my application process. A few things to mention : -This property charges residents for parking per month. -The water is split throughout the entire building, meaning each month it can fluctuate. My first water bill was about $40 but this recent month is $80. -The parking sucks, I normally have to park 4 buildings down because all of the spaces near my building are always taken. I mean you have to get there early from work to get a good space. -The walls are super thin. You can hear your neighbors sometimes. Kinda annoying when people are arguing or making too much noise. I am giving three stars since so far I haven’t had many issues and I do like the apartment so far. It is a lil expensive between paying for gas, water, rent and electric but manageable. I plan on updating my review as the time passes.
the bigggg woman in the leasing office named nina is beyond rude and. has nooo type of mannerisms. she should really be ashamed to show her face . and also the other big spanish woman should be terminated. she constantly harasses my brother and has even called the police on him ! for skate boarding . just ew
If I can give it negative stars I would. Takes minimum 2 weeks for them to get back to you after application process. First application took over 2 weeks, I applied again and took them a month to contact me. Would never live in a place that can't even get the application process completed where as the apartment I am moving in, got everything finished in two business days which is NORMAL.
