I DO NOT RECOMMEND THE AVIS BUDGET GROUP IN FARMINGDALE FOR ANYTHING! The service my wife and I received was below subpar. The representative, Vincent D from your Farmingdale location, was, by far, the poorest excuse of a Customer Service Representative my wife and I had the displeasure of experiencing. Because of his lack of professionalism, his extremely poor attention to simple detail & inability to make what could have been a seamless transaction easy , we ended up having to dispute unrecognizable charges on our credit card for over the last 2 1/2 months. We did a weekly rental agreement with this location and each time my wife would return the vehicle, he NEVER closed out the weekly agreement and took his time to write up a new agreement , which caused so much confusion, as well as an overlap of a ton of unrecognized charges. Sometimes, out the blue, our card would be charged for charges that were unfamiliar. We don't understand why we were being charged all of these additional charges, along with all of these late fees when the vehicle was returned on time every week. All he had to do was stop what he was doing and draw up a separate agreement each time the vehicle was returned to the location. Instead of taking a more professional approach, his solution to everything was..."Just go ahead, I'll take care of it," not realizing we would get hit with a plethora of unauthorized charges, which I am still disputing with my credit card company to date. My wife was apart of Uber Program. We had to constantly return to get printouts of all of the charges made to our credit card, which I had to submit to our credit card company. If corporate is reading this review, it would be strongly recommended and encouraged your organization to either relieve Vincent D. of his duties at your Farmingdale or demote him to a position where he doesn't have to deal with the general public. The experience with such a reputable company has been absolutely deplorable, and I don't recommend ANYONE to experience what we had to endure.
The Farmingdale NY AVIS location rented me a car with a bad tire. I drove several miles, and the tire busted.. The rep that rented me the car knew something was wrong with the vehicle and still decided to rent it? putting myself and 3 children in a dangerous vehicle. I called Avis Roadside assistance and wait 5 hours to tow their vehicle before they brought me another rental from JFK. And no one has thief corporate number to make a complaint.. The worst rental experience ever.
I was recently told I wouldn’t be able to rent a car with my debit card and that I had to use a credit card but in New York State it’s illegal for car rental companies to deny someone a rental if they don’t have a credit card to use for the rental.
It was a stress free rental process and they had plenty available vehicles to rent. Pleasant customer service as well.
I'm reading these reviews and I don't get it. I had car issues with my own car this summer so I had to rent while it was being fixed. I found the 2 different cars I drove in the time were brand new and clean. With shortage of parts I ended up renting for a month. The staff there couldn't have been more accommodating . The last week they helped me with a better rate. I recently purchased a new car and it was totaled in a car accident. My insurance company only used a competitor. What a difference in customer service and cars. Car fuel tank was half filled and they nickeled and dimed everything. Cars were older and dirty. No fault Insurance won't cover more than 30 days. I checked with this Avis and they not only have a car available but honored a rate I found on line. Their prices were half of the big Yellow H. I'll update after this rental

Only getting a star because none isn't an option. Hands down worst experience renting a car. I was giving a car with body damage all around, guy didn't even do a walk around to mark the damage. Car smelled like cigarettes and had previous rental agreements in the backseat...so the car wasn't even cleaned. Car didn't have a full tank of gas either. I return the car with a full tank look at my paperwork and they overcharged me $100. I explained to the woman that was there, she was rude and claimed she would take take of it. After a couple days no refund was issued so I call again now the guy that gave me the rental tells me they will fix it. Nothing was fixed a week later so I call, at this point I'm frustrated, this man was instantly rude and got loud with me over the phone. Incredibly unprofessional and I will never rent a car from this company again. As someone that has worked for a rental company before I would have never behaved in this manner especially to a customer but looking at the other reviews I guess this location just doesn't care about customer service
By far the worst customer service imaginable. No help, they don’t answer their phone… had an issue with payment as I lost my wallet and the guy just re-did it on the card I said is cancelled. Then when I say it he just says, “well I did it so… seems fine to me.” - realize after that it didn’t post and he just didn’t care. Pathetic. Have to drive 50 miles to deal with someone who can’t answer their phone… then act like they answer it when you’re there… as I see the phone ring twice with nobody answering it. The guy there is devoid of any emotion, just depressing experience all around. Do better, man.
Don’t go here. The lady at the front desk is rude and takes to customers nasty. We came by to return the car before closing and the lady says she was there until 3:30 which was probably a lie. I said well we came at 1:45 and your front door was locked. She says oh I was in the garage and heard the knocking. We stayed until 2:45 to try to return the car and no answer. So we returned the next day and they charged us for an extra day. When I was explaining to her that your doors were locked before closing time she has the nastiest attitude. Just avoid this place.
Lady at the counter was very cold, did not.look happy to be there... She gave my husband a paper to initial and sign, my husband asked what was it that he was signing..., instead of answering him, she walked away from the counter. The man that was there explained to my husband what that was. Vehicle that we rented had very dirty tissues in the passenger's door...so disgusting! Also, water bottles were left in the back seat. And one of the tires had a leak. Obviously the vehicle was not properly inspected or cleaned.
