Kettering is AWESOME!! Now Dayton Mall is HORRIBLE!!! Our last 2 rental reservations were for the Dayton Mall location since it was the closest to our son's home in Miamisburg, only 1.5 miles. BOTH times we arrived at the Dayton Mall location for our PREPAID RENTAL and was told they had no car. The 1st time the lady said she forgot to call me and giggled about it. No offer to help find another location or put us in something different or later in the day. So I contacted the Kettering location on Stroop Rd. They didn't have anything BUT did some swapping and arranging to pick up another car for someone who had a later reservation and got us in one!!! This last time? Again was prepaid close to $600 and was told no car. The supposed "Manager" said if you make a reservation online in the evening was made at 5-6p evening before as was an emergency trip NO ONE is getting a car because HE isn't going to do it!!! Again, no offer to help find another location or go get one from another location so we would have what we paid for already!! Was absolutely rude and nasty to my husband!! Then when we contact customer service the representative was rude and nasty about it!!! Even hung up on me when I told her it was ridiculous to pay 100's of dollars upfront and to be treated so horrible!!! She.had the audacity to tell me that WE had NO RIGHT to be upset since it was made the evening before!!! Again, contacted Kettering and they were absolutely WONDERFUL, did some swapping, found another car for a later reservation someone had, and had us on our way!! Too bad they are part of Avis!! From now on all of our rentals will be through the Kettering location. Isn't worth the hassle for the Dayton Mall location. They need shutdown!!
Update: I emailed customer service like the representative below advised. 10 back and forth emails to even find my reservation and I got a "sorry, we're disappointed in the customer service you received too" email and they're closing the case. Even less impressed at this point. I booked a rental 45 days ago. Arrived today to pick it up and had to wait 30 minutes. The clerk wanted to give me a red car and I asked for any other vehicle because I really didn't want red. She said I had to take it, she had rented all the available cars this morning. She marked no dings or marks and said it was clean. Not true at all. There are scuffs and paint missing in multiple areas, the vehicle had not been cleaned and there was still trash in the front and back. I went back inside and told the clerk I wanted a different vehicle and she said no, I'd have to wait for them to just clean this one. I've now been here 90 minutes, missed my next appointment and am still waiting for the car to be done. I'm so disappointed and frustrated.
My sister returned a vehicle today and was treated so poorly I cannot believe a company can employ a customer service rep that’s idols that horrible to customers. As a person in the customer service industry for over 40 years I would just close up shop if my employees acted that way. Please know everyone I come in contact with will hear this experience, and let me just say that’s going to be extensive I promise.
Just returned my rental to Stroop Road location. Was informed because of dog hair they are charging me 125. My dogs hair less but when I told Vickie Johnson this she responds with you should have read the entire contract. She then said I could leave go vacuum and return but I only had 5 minutes. She also informed me I was lucky it used to cost 400. I have never been so disrespected. Beverly Galloway 478412480
Rented a brand new 2023 Chrysler van and we got a flat and went to change it and there was no jack or spare in the vehicle anywhere at all!
The worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. They kept our deposit over 1 piece of dog hair that didn’t even belong to us… never using them again!
Make sure you take lots of photos, every inch, possibly even video… and don’t let them get away with not going out and documenting with you. I informed them of damage when I picked up the vehicle and upon return they seemed unaware of that. i had to insist that I’d a taken photos and b that the clerk had kept a separate copy of the damage but didn’t give me a copy … then they finally looked for another set of documents. Car smelled like majijuana upon pickup —didn’t offer to give me a different car either. Terrible experience.
It was great to have a rental location right in our neighborhood and they did a great job. They even upgraded our vehicle. I would definitely rent from them again.
The original rental I received the hatch wouldn’t open & they knew before renting again but they did exchange it for me with no problem. The second rental i was given was pretty new with 6k miles but needed maintenance & ended up flooding the drivers floor. We had to drive about 6hrs to our destination. I was able to exchange that one in the city i drove to. No problems. Once i went to return the rental they expected me to have the rental cleaned beforehand. I was also charged another $15 & im not sure why. This was my first & LAST time renting from Avis. I’m honestly not a happy customer.
Our rental had to be towed by your folks on the next to last day of our rental. We discovered, not only did we get charged for the final day of the rental there was no replacement vehicle available but they continued to charge us until they received the car out of repair. WHAT??? When we called, we were pushed around, put on hold and told we couldn't speak to a supervisor or anyone that could help us. That they would have to have "someone" call us back. Four hours later we are still waiting.
