Mai Shannon, EA started the local tax firm in 1996 after leaving the IRS. She worked at the IRS as a Tax Advisor. However, she was diversified with her experience with the IRS to include collection for the IRS, Penalty Abatement for the IRS, and Account Adjustments for the IRS. She wanted to do more to help the public and didn't think that she could do that working inside the IRS. So, she decided that she needed to get her inside knowledge of how the IRS thinks and operate to the public. She took this knowledge and expertise and shared it with her staff and partners so that their education and training went beyond other typical 'outside' knowledge, practice, and training. She and her husband, Donald Shannon, ran the most recognized tax firm in Pierce County of WA State with their extensive tax, accounting, and financial education and years of practical experience.
Their clientele had grown to the point that they were working 24/7/365. Those clients and friends that knew them, knew that this couple was not strangers of hard, hard work. However, when their clienteles grew over 14 years of business from referrals after referrals after referrals, recruitment and retaining qualified talented employees who shared their work ethics, integrity, philosophy and dedication became a fulltime job that took away from their focus in their business. Then life changing events enabled them to change their firm's focus on their practice. They now only provide one on one personal attention to their hand selected clientele. This personal attention enable them to understand the current needs of their clients, anticipate problems, and offer innovative solutions.
