first come first serve 20$ a night no local stores in the park however they do sell firewood at the campground. no showers but bathrooms are very clean and stocked. the people are very nice the tv next to the museum is the ranger i believe with a list of available campsites. beautiful sites and cold at night. honestly had an amazing time great for camping or star gazing
It's absolutely astonishing amazing breath taking gorgeous. So peaceful Trout fishing was so wonderful I caught my limit and so did everyone with me. Butit was trout fishing heaven no fly rod needed bobber worm & a hook you good to go. I hope you get the chance also camp ground clean spaces looked big. But it was a day trip for me. Enjoy
Hard to get there, the roads are narrow and curvy but it is worth it! We went mid week so there wasn't many campers. The scenery is very beautiful and quiet. I can't wait to go again. We went on a couple of trails and fishing, the ponds might have fish but we didn't have any luck catching any. My kids loved there camping experience and ask about going again all the time.
This park is a real-life version of Jellystone Park. Two ponds, stocked with trout. Campsites for RVs or tents. An area to clean your fish. A beautiful picnic area that is well shaded by beautiful Sequoia trees. Easy hiking trails. What more can a nature lover ask for? We will be back.
I went with a bunch of friends and it was great, the trail is pretty visible at night, once you get high up on the trails, the view is breathtaking. It’s pretty self explanatory about how to camp and where. We didn’t have any problems. They have a river if you can find it on the map, and I HIGHLY recommend!!! It was the best part of the trip for my friends and I! Look at the pics! View is AWESOME!
As of June 30,2023 I spoke in person with local Cal trans about the roads leading up to to Balch campgrounds. All roads still closed for much needed repairs. The work they have done is mind blowing as local bridges and roads have washed away.
It's still very beautiful, but people need to pick up after themselves. There was a bear several nights in a row and people kept leaving food and trash out. You'd think they'd learn.
Closed for the covid & season on December 5th 2020
I love this place we have been camping here for years, its a good place to relax, fish, and just enjoy the scenery. My husband and I went camping this past Wednesday and Thursday, and for the first time in all the times we have been there, had neighbors screaming and yelling till late at night, both nights. They tell you quite time starts at 10: 00 pm. Oh and no fish, lol. We will return just venting about people that don't follow rules. It's a beautiful place hope it stays that way...for everyone to enjoy!
Great family campground with beautiful Giant Sequoias.
