Absolutely wonderful place to camp! It's a bit off the beaten path, so if you're looking for quiet, this is the place for you. The campground host, Ron, was very helpful and friendly. There's no electric or water hookups, but the bathrooms are well-maintained with running water cold only and flushing toilets. The tent pads are great for a level spot to set up your tent. If you are looking for peace and quiet, with beautiful scenery, definitely give this one a shot!
What a lovey campground! We had site 22 which was plenty big enough for our big dome tent and a couple of hammocks. This is a quiet a remote campground and we absolutely LOVED it. It’s high up so very quiet at night, and surrounded by nature. Absolute bliss for people who love getting away from it all. Remote mean REMOTE, the nearest store is at least a half hour drive away, and there is no firewood for sale either. The toilets are kept spotlessly clean by the excellent camp hosts. There are no showers but plenty of running water and there’s a big dishwashing station. All site have a gravel pitch and fire pit with grill. Fellow campers were friendly and polite. The lack of massive ten ton trailers was very welcome too!
Great place to stay for camping. They only have running water at one place and no showers but if you don't mind that, its a great area. Hiked some trails and saw black bears, several Elk, deer and wild pigs.
We Rv dry camped here thats all they have on a weekday after Memorial weekend. We didn't know we needed reservations but were able to call number and they had sites open. They have 43 sites and they are park on the side of the road but that blocks the firepit and table for a little more privacy. I think small rvs would be best .We had the only site you can back into site # 23 that was a little more private but it would only fit a small rv. flushable toilets and a dishwashing station. They had trails and there are trails close by. Its up in elevation so its cool. There is a camping world in Ashville for a dump station and I believe an rv campground for a dump station but forgot the name.
Best campground. Small off the beaten path and a great spot to see the sunset right up the road. Go to the picnic spot and take the trail. About 50 yards up there’s a clearing with benches for sunset.
We camped here one night and enjoyed it. We only slept here and didn't spend any time on the grounds since we found parking lots with a view to make our backpacking meals. The bathrooms were very clean and the hosts were very kind. We would stay here again when we visit the Smokey's next time. Photos of wildlife were from the drive up to the campground.
There is so much I would like to say about this camping trip, but I will leave you with this, our campsite was 9 and we loved EVERY moment! The host were amazing and very helpful! Aside from showers this is a home away from home for us!!! We WILL be back and will bring the whole family!
Stayed in 19B, a tent only site. Loved it!! Hosts were helpful and kind. Campground was rustic and clean. Not all views are this great but all sites we saw were good.
Not so great for family camping with children. I slipped and fell in the grass on a hill at my campsite while I was holding my 6 month old. That's not the reason I say it's not family friendly though.. There is nothing close by hiking wise to do. When we arrived at camp there was a line going right over our fire ring for a tarp at a neighboring camp. The only good experience about that site was seeing all the Elk after it rained. And the clouds in the early morning. I would recommend Cosby Campround over this location any day. This may be a great camping spot for certain people, just not for me or my family.
Everyone should avoid this campground at all costs. Very cold, no dump station...not worth seeing. Stay in Cherokee or Maggie Valley instead.
