Love the pet wellness plan. They are busy, so appointments are a few weeks out especially if you want to see the same Doc each time. But they take great care of our furry family members.
Disclaimer: I have to give it a star to leave the review....but best believe I would give it a -10 stars. Today was my first time going to a Banfield Pet Hospital. It was HORRIBLE. Arrived early, I was told I had to wait to be checked in as this was their policy. After being checked in at 10:28 am for the 10:30 am appointment, my dog was still not seen at 10:45 am. But every other person who brought an animal was greeted properly, their pet was acknowledged and they were helped IMMEDIATELY. But all of those people didn't look like me. I almost forgot, I was dealing with the MANAGER!I will never go back and encourage anyone who wants good quality, equity and inclusion service if you look like me go to a real vet office. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! SAVE YOUR DOG!
My recent visit to Reston Banfield is, without a doubt, one of the worst experiences I have ever had. I took my dog, Jack, for a check and for getting an international travel certificate. I was assigned to an obviously inexperienced vet, whom I never got to talk to in person. Her messages were conveyed to me, through a front office person. Not only I never got the International certificate filled in, although I made it clear on the telephone that it would be the main reason of my visit, the vet refused to perform any additional vaccines beside rabbies vaccine. It was an awful experience, I travel 80 miles altogether for nothing, and ended up paying $ 170, just for a rabbies vaccine.
Sharing our experience that is not about inability to pay -- this is a failure to explain short- and long-term options, increase of fees quoted totaling an additional $429!, and need for transparency in precise cost of care. Our beloved Labradoodle, 12 ... Went for his annual checkup His bloodwork was normal His urine showed super high elevated WBC He had an ultrasound The ultrasound shows a mass in his upper stomach area A biopsy was taken Now waiting for results He's now on amoxicillin Clavamox for a bacterial infection, likely in his mouth due to bad teeth -- quoted "up to $2,000 to remove a large tooth" He's also on metronidazole antibiotic for intestinal distress Sharing the invoice for those with older dogs -- for years everything is great; then it's not. This isn't about ability to pay -- we can. This is about the importance of writing down each amount that is quoted to you I did, disputing add-on fees that mysteriously appear in your final bill, and asking detailed questions to understand the overall path ahead. Since Google has blurred my invoice. The charges were: Office visit -- 74.95 -- waived per pet plan Blood collection -- 12.31 -- waived per pet plan CBC with pathologist review -- 141.18 Clavamox -- 55.04 Giardia Test -- 33.79 Admin Fee for Ultrasound Outside Provider -- 115.38 -- this fee was not quoted to me Antisdean, BP monitoring, anesthesia, Butorphanol, Dexmedetomidine, doctor supervision, team care, ward fee, oxygen -- 187.51 Medical procedure assistant -- 48.98 Metronidazole -- 26.80 Ultrasound Fee -- 1,000 -- I was told the fee would be 686 Proviable Forte -- 121.05 Radiograph Consult and Image -- 121.05 Radiology Thorax -- 282.70 Urine test, collection, exam gravity -- 156.49 -- waived per pet plan
This is a quantity over quality business model. I shouldn’t have ignored all the one star reviews. They are well-earned. Don’t believe their wellness plan claims of saving money. They jack up the prices of their services to make a customer feel like they will save money on this scammy plan. Shop around, find a non-corporate vet. Every time we’ve left our dog for care they have forgotten services requested. Go to a vet that allows you to stay with your pet during routine check-ups and appointments. The reason they can’t allow that is the sheer volume of animals they push through in a day. It’s a volume game for Banfield. Better Business Bureau inquiry incoming.
The vet and vet technicians are always incredibly caring towards my pets. They also make sure to effectively explain to me any potential health concerns my pet may have. Great customer service!
These folks are so busy that sometimes it seems like they don't really care, but they do. Trust me. They are short staffed, so it makes things really difficult for them. My pets have been patients for years and everyone is really kind. I don't want to call anyone out for fear of forgetting someone who has been part of our care team, but I will say the Dr. Frake is really wonderful.
Like some of the other comments listed… high robbery… I came in to get a flu shot for my dog to continue going to the foggy day care and they charged me 125 dollars! A flu shot back in Vegas is 20 dollars… they did services I did not ask for as in a full examination review on my dog to make sure I wasn’t “lying” about taking care of my dog… I clearly had just given them the vaccination sheet from petsmart! I will never go to this place again… it’s easier to fly back to Vegas and take him ti his regular vet than doing anything here…. Once again 125 for a flu shot! And then had the nerve to tell me that I could sign up for their wellness program for 50 dollars a month ….. and they only mention all these charges after signing up for it…. They are liars and thiefs.
Uncoordinated and not enough help to check people in. Waited 3 weeks for overdue vaccination then waited on line for 15 minutes to be told Im late and to drop pet off all day or leave her unvaccinated and risk her being killed if she gets sick for 3 more weel. Completely irresponsible. WILL NOT RISK MY PETS LIFE FOR STUPIDITY OF THIS LOCATION
Dr Frake is the absolute best. She is always on top of everything when it comes to our furry children's health. I drive almost 2 hours to come to this specific location. Plus the front desk staff, especially Jonathan, are all wonderful.
