Very nice place. Pouring down rain the day we arrived. Site we picked was so flooded we had to move, but that was an easy change and no fuss from owners. Be careful where you pick if it's calling for rain. 77 yo sister used shower house and got fussed at by maintenance that she couldn't park outside shower. Distance from site too far for her to walk. No, "no parking" signs. He had her move, but still in an acceptable distance. Showers hot, and clean. 25 cents for 5 minutes. Takes 1-2 minutes for water to warm up, but then you're in good shape. Get undressed before putting money in. Shower buildings are a little chilly at night. No seats to sit on for handicap. Beautiful view from playground area. The laundry is there too, so we put the clothes in wash, took our chairs, and read books, and took some pictures up there, while sitting up on the hill waiting for clothes. Easy check in and exit. Large camp spots in most RV areas. More choices if no sewer needed. Lots of shaded areas. Nice picnic tables. Nice grates for fire, but I prefer fire rings. Location of campground was nice for us. Lots of places to eat, close to town, and easy to find Acadia National Park. We'll have to come back to see the rest of island.
This was such a great camping experience. We had really lovely views of the ocean/harbor, the campsite facilities were in excellent condition, the staff was so friendly and helpful, and we were able to have our dog there without any trouble at all. There is enough privacy but if you had kids we did not there are lots of kids in the area and they all seemed to have a good time. The best part about the campground was its connection to the Island shuttle services, which was such a great way to ditch the car and get all around Acadia. 10/10 great experience.
We really like it here and would come back again for sure and highly recommend. It’s very quite and clean. Neighbors are respectful. The office staff are very helpful. There’s a laundry room that’s fantastic and so inexpensive. Shower room is terrific. So clean. I can’t say enough good things about it here. Oh and the price is great!
This is a very nicely cared for campground! It has something for every camper.. They have campsites that range from isolated, no-hookups, to full 50 Amp sites with water, electric, and sewer. The spaces can be very private, or tightly packed close together. Their MO is different from what we have experienced elsewhere. They don’t take reservations, and only accept cash there is an ATM in the office. You show up, drive around until you find a spot, claim it by parking there, then go back to the office to pay. We were a little worried about finding a 50Amp site, but they had 2 open when we got there and we claimed one. They have dumpsters located close by every area and dump stations, laundry facilities, washrooms, pool, and more. It’s about a 12-minute drive to downtown Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park is about 5-minutes away. After a day of fun you MUST go get some ice cream at Udder Heaven! It can be accessed directly from the park via a walking path, or you can drive out the front entrance to the campground and drive a couple hundred yards down the road. Udder Heaven is extremely popular as is the BBQ place next to it. Fun place, easy to get to, and close to where we wanted to be!
Amazing experience! Would recommend this to anyone! We got there around 1pm on Saturday of Columbus Day Weekend so we were a little worried about availability, but there were plenty of spots to choose from. We chose a spot secluded in the woods. Every site comes with a picnic table and a fire pit. Drinking stations everywhere and accessible bath houses with sinks & showers.. About a 10 minute drive into downtown and 5 minute drive to Acadia National Park. Recommend going in the fall - beautiful foliage and plenty warm under blankets! We'll be back for sure. Since down town Bar Harbor is so busy, I'd recommend meal prepping / bringing some food to cook by the fire. So cozy,
Beautiful place to stay! Lady in office was super nice. Bathrooms were clean. Had to pay .25 for showers, but they were nice and hot definitely worth it especially since .25 got you 5 minutes Great campground close to Acadia National Park. Would stay here again.
First time camping at bar harbor with kids, love the place people was great, very close to bar harbor. They don’t take reservations but there is plenty of room, I was surprised it wasn’t full on the weekend. One thing I have to say is they do allow dogs and everyone was nice, our neighbors was nice and loved our dogs but not everyone likes dogs, our dog barked here and there but we got a complaint about our barking dog and it stress us out, we always had to check to stop our dogs from barking when they see other people/dogs/any animal. Overall great campground Lots of dogs and the dog walk was great kids loved the playground Bathroom was super clean
A delightful place, on the free bus shuttle, less than a mile from the Acadia Nat Park visitor center. Generous private sites, clean bathrooms, camp store, and friendly, helpful staff. Lots of dogs and places to walk them. So quiet at night, though. Views of stars and ocean. Perfect for families and seniors. Good, affordable BBQ next door. Less than 10 minutes from Bar Harbor and Hannafords grocery. Tip - park at visitor center on weekdays and catch the loop shuttle bus there. On weekends, take the shuttle bus all the time - almost no parking in the area for real, no lie!
This was our second time at this campground. We loved it so much last year that we made point to come back. It's a nice little, well kept campground with reasonable rates. Our only complaint is that they close the showers down at 10AM, for cleaning. With checkout being at noon, there are many who want to shower after packing up before and before hitting the road. I wish I could have deducted just a ½, but that's not an option. We will like stay here again in the future. Note: this campground does not take reservations, it's first come first served.
Really enjoyed staying at this campground! It might not have all the bells and whistles of some, but the property is beautiful, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the site was clean and spread out. Definitely a good spot to stay in if you're visiting Acadia.
