We camped in a tent at one of the sites! They keep the bath house and bathroom unit very clean, it’s an awesome space to use. It’s quiet and full of families and kids! We stayed there to go to Acadia, but it was a good central location, close to a grocery store and other food places. The staff was super friendly and treated us with respect! Nearby activities: There’s fast food places nearby, the national park is about 50 minutes away, the harbor is probably closer. At the campground itself there’s a small playground, docks, and a swimming area. There’s alap a dog park that you can take your tiny friends to! Safety: They’re super strict about who gets into the campground, so you won’t have to worry about any strangers wandering around. Everyone is expected to drive slow and watch out for kids too! Walkability: The campground is good in size! It’s big enough for a walk, but small enough that you can navigate it easily!
This is a really nice campground that is well kept and has a very friendly staff and clientele. We’ve enjoyed visiting family here several times. The food at the outdoor cafe is really good and affordable. We look forward to out next visit!Rooms: 5/5
No sand anywhere, just crushed sharp granite. I bet the rock was prettier before it was crushed and dumped there. Hurt my feet and knees in my tent. Ground is not suitable for a tent. Fire ring really cheesy too. Tent sites pathetically small and crammed together. No privacy at all. Seemed more like a retirement home than a place for family and friends to enjoy the great outdoors of Maine. I grew up here and can guide you to beautiful places. Enjoy this states natural wonders and be one with all creatures. Be fun and happy all. Love you all.
Great campground. We really enjoyed our stay there. Large wooded sites. Friendly people. And meals at pavilion on weekends is great. Nearby activities: Located close to many attractions.
We love this family friendly campground! This is a beautiful spot and the weekends are a blast with the bombfires and music.
Nice place, clean lots and great staff. I haven't been here in 20yrs. with my 2 boys and have to say it hasn't changed much. Fairly quiet place with the amount of kids that were there with there parents. Bathrooms were clean and maintained well. My wife and I needed to relax for a few days and have the nice quiet time. Thanks people we will be back again and will recommend Balsam Cove Campground. Maine Cavalier's.
How do I put into words the fun time I had her back in 2017? It's not easy, but I'll try. It was a weekend trip with my mom, my sister and my nephew, and my aunt and uncle were there too at a nearby campsite. The gentle yodeling of the loons was some of the most relaxing music I ever fell asleep to, and the next day my uncle cooked Puerto Rican chicken for dinner at his campsite. Saturday evening saw the hayride around the campground, and then came the time for the bonfire. Appropriately enough, "Girl On Fire" by Alicia Keys was playing as Justin lit the bonfire. Then somebody turned around and had "Play That Funky Music" by Wild Cherry, and the dancing feet took over. I did get to talk to Justin later on and say "Thank you so much for a dynamite camping experience", and I was majorly bumming when we had to leave on Sunday morning. Even better was the weeklong trip we made in July of 2023. Let me tell you, July 4th week at the campground is fun. We kicked off our week with a hayride and a bofnire on Saturday night, and once again, "Play That Funky Music" by Wild Cherry saw the dancing feet take over. Fireworks on the 4th, and live music on Friday night. I said to my mom, "We are coming back here next year, you are not allowed to say no." May I have the good fortune to return again next year for another fun week.
Beautiful waterfront, friendly campers and owners. Its has mom and pop feel to it which I appreciate. If you are looking for a commercialized campground like Sun RV this might be the place for you. Here you will get natures beauty with full hookups and a nice food pavilion. The main attraction is definitely the clean lake and the views! Multiple points of entry to the lake and new docks.
Overall it would be the place if your looking for a lively RV park. The playground was nice, has a little arcade which was cool. I guess we showed up during Halloween in August. There was a lot going on, and if that’s your cup of tea then this would be the spot. It wasn’t what we were looking for in terms of a camping adventure. With no refunds we stuck it out, which made a difficult evening and morning when your seeking the sounds of nature.
This campground very clearly caters to its seasonal RV campers rather than tenters or pop-up campers coming for a short stay. Three things make me think this: 1. was the number of seasonal sites with all kinds of extravagant landscaping, etc.- not a bad thing and shows they're happy with the campground BUT 2. was the fact that the bathrooms were filthy the entire week dirty toilets, moldy shower curtains, hair in the drains, dirty stalls we were there and one of the eco toilets was broken the whole time. 3. the dish washing sink was absolutely disgustingly filthy and clearly never gets cleaned. At one point, I entered the women's bathroom as a staffer was leaving with cleaning supplies. I looked around and couldn't figure out what she had done to clean it aside from spray some Clorox cleaner into the air as the sinks still had grit and hair in them, the toilets and showers were still dirty, and there were still unidentified, gross smears on the stall walls and doors. That was the only time I saw staff near the bathrooms. My guess is since seasonal RVers don't need to make use of those facilities very much, the staff doesn't bother to keep them up much. Aside from that, it's a nice quiet campground and the little swimming area is nice. It's also conveniently located a short drive to Acadia. Honestly, were it not for the lack of cleanliness, I probably would have given it 4 stars.
