I spent four months there this summer and it was the best ever. Don’t listen to the chatter about the owner. He is an awesome guy and he will help you any way he can .Great location. Great views .I saw every animal possible this summer. What a great relaxing experience .The lake is awesome, the people were great if it wasn’t so cold, I’d still be there.
I waited for over two hours to be shown my campsite. Owner still has not refunded my 200 dollar deposit after he told me he would. Campsite sewer line was pvc laying on ground and electric was a extension cord. Avoid this campground at all cost
A very nice, quiet and serene place to camp and the owner is very nice.
Great place, everything good besides the laundry room always locked
Amazing access to Toddy Pond. Well priced. Owner/Operator very friendly, long time local.
We were desperate for a safe campground to stay for the night, every one else didnt take last minutes but these guys fit us in! We got lots of cool pictures and they even set up a fire pit for us. Only damage is that while the bathrooms were super cute, it seems that you have to put in quarters to shower? If that was the case thats okay, i just wish I’d known before undressing- like if there was a sign or something. Otherwise wonderful! Would add photos but theyre on my camera
A wonderful campsite! Stayed here with my friend. The lake is hauntingly beautiful, and we were able to camp right next to it. Seriously, the most unbelievably wonderful campsites I've ever camped out. Most memorably, the dusk brings the mournful calls of loons, crying out over an empty, serene lake. The campsite manager is a fantastic, friendly man, with the perfect camping experience of being friendly and present and then disappearing and leaving us alone when desired. The facilities are fantastic, to boot, with a well constructed bathroom facility. We had so much fun that, on our way back, we left early from Acadia so we could have more time at Wanderin' Moose. I'm definitely going to try to come back here in the future.
Have stayed for the season for several years.very enjoyable,a great place to relax and enjoy the outdoor, swimming, fishing and nice walks. Most important I was very appreciative of the management to allow me to have my wedding on the beautiful lawn beside the pond. I highly recommend anyone to come and experience The Wandering Moose Campground, and stop by to say hello cause chances are, I'll be there!
I stayed here a number of years ago... It was Memorial Day weekend. This campground was on a pond that was more beautiful than I can describe in simple words. As I write this review, I do so with huge reservation. Not because of the campground, but because I feel like I found a true gem and do not want to share this treasure with anyone.. I am heading back a few times this year and it's well worth the 4 hour drive. Also I wanted to point out a little noise problem. I went here looking for piece and quiet. But our first morning it was noisier than rush hour traffic. Not because of other campers mind you, they were great. It was the wildlife in their morning routine. The birds were singing, the chipmunks were chirping and it seemed as though the entire pond had something to say. The loons that spent the better part of morning locked in a grudge match were quite fun to watch... Either it was two males fighting for the affection of a female, or the female got pissed her mate was out all night "fishing". we've all been there bud They were the most memorable looms I've ever seen... Back and forth chasing each other on top of the water and carrying on for hours... It was loud, obnoxious and I loved it! I hope for the owners sake you choose this place for your camping experience, I hope for mine you do not...
Beautiful private campsites, and wonderful clean facilities. Highly recommend! Reasonable drive to both Stonington and Acadia. Norman is very friendly and he's very passionate about his campground.
